I always plant marigolds in my vegetable garden. First of all, I just love their appearance . . .bright colors and cheeriness. Secondly, because they are supposed to keep bugs away.

This year I planted some as plants and they look awful and puny. I also planted a packet by seeds and they look wonderful. Big, full, colorful . . . and just glorious . . .I think!

Thought I'd share!
CJ

Tnere are about three more big batches of them in the garden

P.S. Pardon the not so pretty black, plastic, concrete blocks, tires, metal frames, etc. But that is the veggie garden.

Ceejay,
Those look like mine this year. They got HUGE!!! Taking up much of the garden, but I'm not complaining. I love them too!
At least your garden is not infested with weeds! I tell my husband, "Look at this tomato (etc) that I picked from the weeds!" Not the garden LOL

I also plant them among my tomatoes to keep aphids off. When the garden is done, Jay won't let me pull them until frost gets them.

Looks good, CJ! I love marigolds. French marigolds are actually one of my favorite flowers. I just love them. I also love that when planted in spring, they grow up big and beautiful like yours, and last into fall with fall color. They do work well as pest management. Bonus how pretty they are! Basil in between plants helps a lot too.
