Good morning,

My son Andrew is turning 23 at the end of the month. My other son Joe is turning 29 next month. I have NO idea what to get them and of course, when I ask them, they offer no ideas. It was so much easier when they were little and a toy would make them happy. I've looked online but still have no idea what to get them.

Any ideas?

Thanks

My oldest two sons are now 32 and 35. My youngest is going on 14. I agree, life was much simpler when Lego's was all they ever wanted for birthdays and holidays. My middle son likes to fish, so I try to give him a gift card from Bass Pro or some kind of fishing equipment. I do ask my sons what they would like and they usually tell me what kind of shirts or pants that they need for work and relaxing. Sports store gift cards are helpful and since both my older sons are homeowners, Home Depot cards are useful for them as well. I do dislike giving gift cards, but sometimes that's all they want. I do try to find books and cd's or dvd's for them as well, just to have something to actually wrap.

Best of luck finding gifts for your sons. I hope they have fun birthdays!

My 40 year old son always needs more pants - either shorts or outdoor work pants. He likes the one-piece coveralls for working on the garden or on the truck.

Connie, do your boys have an iPod or iPad? If so, my girls always love getting iTune gift cards that they can go online and purchase music, books or movies. My husband loves gift cards from Home Depot or Lowes that he can use toward a tool. Just a thought!

My husband is just as hard to buy things for. I hate giving gift cards as well but they actually tend to be the best for people who are hard to buy for. Are yours sons close? Maybe ask each boy for ideas on what to get their brother. They may have a better idea.

Connie, do you sew? I only ask because my husband is mad at me for not sewing him a quilt but I have for each of my daughters (valentine throws and also a bed quilt for each).

My husband is notoriously hard to buy anything for. He is big into History, especially the Civil War. This year, for his birthday, I found this awesome website that makes these limited edition t-shirts with different civil way battle scenes that were originally paintings. They are beautiful. Cheap? No, but so worth it. Oh, and I got him the box set of CHiPs that was just released so he could relive his childhood.
