My daughter, Robin . . .aka "Birdie" . . .and I were able to enjoy a week of glamping at Priest Gulch Campground June 14-21. It is a privately owned campground about 35 miles up the Dolores River From Dolores, Colorado (I live 5 miles out of Dolores). There are about 4 tent sites, the rest are full hookup sites with a variety of size, shade, etc. The river runs through the middle and we like being on the "mountain" side with a site by the river
.
There are a lot of "snowbirds" there who have big, fancy RVs and are there for the entire summer. But many are like us, just coming for short visits.

It has lots of amenities and that is one reason why we chose it again. We had been tent glamping there five years ago and were able to have an RV site with permission. Our glamping set up is NOT the typical sights seen there.

I had titled my thread from last year Fourteen Campfires Later too but this one is for 2017. And, yes, fourteen campfires . . every morning and every evening. They were easier here because the firewood was free, it was drier and in small pieces including some kindling size pieces.I didn't have to work so hard at using the right size piece at the right time in the fire.

Our site was right on the river, which was running high and fast, still roily (still snow melt run off from the high country). It was a constant rushing sound and we were just pondering how many ba-zillion gallons of water went by during the week we were there. This river is the source for all water in our part of the world!!

I have a few more pics I'll be sharing, so check back later.
Thanks for looking!
CJ

My girls, daughter Robin . . . aka "Birdie". . . and sweet doggie, Bramble.

You can see how high the river was running in this first picture

Robin planned all the meals and did all the cooking. She's amazing!

Bramble, taking a little break on the rugs under the canopy. She's the BEST glamping dog!

Yes, I do have some more pics to share so come on back!
Thanks for letting me share!

Hi Gracie . . . it was June 2013 when we saw you at Riverside, so 4 years ago.

This cold has REALLY KNOCKED me for a loop! The body wracking, gut wrenching hacking cough is EXHAUSTING. I think I'm on the downside of it now. Poor hubby, however, seems to have gotten the bug too . . .dang it.

I think Girl Camp would be such a treat . . . so very far away for me! Sorry you missed it!

A cookie jar, but without cookies. It has fancy clothespins, bag clips and other useful items in it. I tied the doily on with a bit of ribbon around the knob on top. And, a couple sets of cute salt/pepper shakers.

A chandelier I reporsued. Turned it upside down, removed cord and hanger. Painted it and then used some painted napkin rings, beads and lace to dress it up. Us the small solar lights in it. We tied it with ribbon up in the center of the EZ-Up canopy to the frame. We then just took off the solar tops, put them in the sun to charge during the day and replaced them in the evening for "night light". We also string mini-lights all around the inside of the canopy . . . really like the light it provides and nice comfy glow at night!

P.S. You can also see my doily buntings we hang in the canopy. There are two, they criss-cross each other from side to side. We like the sweet touch those give!

One corner of our site and our canopy. Lots of shade on that side and we had pretty close neighbors too . . . nice ones though!

This campsite has a really nice bath house but it WAY THE HECKC down the way. We wanted to have a night time loo available so we didn't have to hike all they way there in the night. Last year we bought this shower/loo tent which works well for both. Decided to set it up here for a loo . . . and lace it up a bit. Glad we had it!
CJ

The pit for campfire was not too far away so when we were sitting by the fire, Bramble like to lay on the soft rug we put down in front.

I like the idea of the 'privacy' cabana....
one question,, if you are in it at night, with a lantern,, can folks outside see your image/shadow?
I know it's dumb to ask.. but.... lol!

Gracie,
We've never used a lantern/flashlight in the "loo" tent, so I don't know. I have thought about that and my guess is that, yes, they probably would. We did put solar lights outside at both sides of the door. We also have solar lights around other parts of the campsite so it wasn't too dark. We could use a flashlight to find our way but didn't find it necessary this time.

By the way, the starry sky was AMAZING . . . JUST AMAZING! I don't have a camera capable of capturing that but Robin and I just stood there in AWE! Our Creator is AWESOME!!

Wow, CeeJay, what a gorgeous camp site you and Robin enjoyed!! It sounds like so much fun and the scenery was fantastic. Your camper is so cute with all of it's accessories and decorations. It is luxury camping for sure. I also like your idea of a close by Loo for convenience in the night or if it rained. So happy that you had a wonderful week and enjoyed yourselves! Thanks for the great photos too!!

Ok... quick funny story about glamping and showering....
......
A bunch of us gals were glamping at the V6 Ranch out in Colinga, CA....
Out in open pastures .... one of the gals bought and brought a 'privy ' tent... hooked up the gallon water bladder so the sun could heat up the water for the shower... well as she was attempting to shower the winds started to kick up.. so 3 of us ran over to hold the tent from blowing away...needless to say.... there was a 'full moon rising" if you get my drift... it truly was a comedy of errors!!!... but at least it was just us gals...and later that evening around the campfire and a glass of wine... we laughed so hard that we nearly piddled in our panties!
......
Moral of the story ... don't shower on a windy day!...or the cows will fall over laughing...

Oh my Gracie! That would have been interesting!

Deborah, we had TOTAL fun! Glad we were able to enjoy campfires before the weather got so hot and dry there was a fire ban.
Looking forward to next year, back at Priest Gulch but a different site!

P.S. And the monsoon season has started which means there are tremendous buildup of t-storms with terrible lightning and big rain in the mountains. I do NOT like to camp in the rain!
