Hello everyone and Happy Spring!
It's been a while since I've written as I've been busy writing books, re-organizing the house (which never seems to end) and getting the gardens ready.
So I'm finally getting a chance to relax and read through my Mary Jane's Magazine, I was pleasantly surprised to see the topic of vintage sewing machines on the cover of the latest issue. What a wonderful article and of course I was surprised to see my book listed in it! I'm flattered and honored. Thank you.
When I first started with sewing machines years back, I never realized how many people were out there that were also into them. It's amazing the online groups that have many thousands of people who collect and fix them as well who all talk on a daily basis and brag about their machines. It makes me feel proud to be a part of something that carries on a tradition.
Both articles from Mary Jane and Nicole are awesome, and a pleasure to read. After all these years, I still get giddy when I discover my next issue of Mary Jane's mag in my mailbox. I never know what treasures I'll find among the pages that are obviously filled with great care and love.

I 'sew ' agree.... there truly is a special bond, feeling when one is sitting in front of their vtg. Sewing machine.... and thinking about the past woman making a special some thing for her family or home or young girl learning to sew.... perhaps making an out fit for her dolly...
I remember learning to sew on my mother's green Elna machine... with all those special stitch cams....that I could fit on my pinky....

Greetings! As a new Farmgirl I have lots of reading to do to get up to speed with topics and posts. I have a vintage sewing machine collection and agree that when I sew on my older machines, I also wonder about the sewers before me. I was interviewed by our local paper for an article on my vintage machines and I spoke about how I wish my vintage machines could talk! I do not use my vintage machines on a regular basis, I use my Pfaff 5.0 and a Babylock Jazz. However, I do have a goal of making a quilt top on each of my vintage machines. Still have several that need some work. I just love when I have an opportunity to get the history of a machine, and I have a few machines with amazing stories! I am very happy to share that I have my Mom's White, it was the first gift my Dad bought her after they were married! I made my wedding gown and all the bridesmaids dresses on my Mom's machine. I can remember as a child all of the hours I stood next to that machine waiting for my turn...........just waiting for my Mom and sisters to finish sewing! I recently retired and my plan is to make sure I read all of my MaryJanes magazines, will have to look for the spring '17 magazine and read the article! Happy sewing!
