I agree, Grace. That pickle just doesn't go with it! And the sandwich looks a lot bigger and healthier!

It even looks OLD in the picture! Not very appetizing to me! I got really Sick on an egg mcmuffin in Spokane when I was headed to my Father In Law's Funeral. I don't think I have eaten one since...and that was about 20 years ago. LOL Not my cup of tea either Grace.

While looking through the old magazine,,, I realized,,, it was a 'New Age' of cooking.... canned tomato soup,,,franks,,,miracle whipe and Spam... lolol! I am NOT a fan of canned tomato soup on top of anything!!! lol!
Honestly,,, as a child,,, it wasn't until I was about 16 when mom went to work,,, and we would occasionally have a Swanson frozen dinner,, I had never heard of Mac-n-cheese out of a box, nor minute rice.... nor canned tomato soup. As for Fish Sticks,, we never had them,,, but I remember the school serving fish sticks on Friday for the children who were Catholic... Oh how I wanted to be Catholic. !!!

I remember the first time I saw a pizza kit in a box. Mom tried it and it sure didn't taste great, but it was easy to fix if you liked cheese pizza. Most mixes in boxes didn't taste very good at all. Dad thought they tasted like the cardboard they were packed in. LOL So did the rest of us kids.
As for the fish on Fridays, we were served fish sticks every Friday in our school cafeteria. If you got the hot lunch, it was fish every Friday no matter what you believed because it was served to everyone. Guess that way no one was offended. I'm not Catholic, but I ate the fish or went hungry since in those days there weren't choices.

I grew up on a farm where we raised everything and my mom was an excellent cook . . so we didn't eat all that stuff. While in grades 1-8 we took our lunch that our mom made, which was pretty healthy. I ate cafeteria lunch while in high school, but I don't remember much about them. There was no McDonald's where I grew up. We did have Dairy Queen and A&W Root Beer drive-in. We very rarely went to either, but once in a great while we'd go to DQ for ice cream after Sunday evening church. CJ

Gracie, I don't really remember for sure about the burgers, but that does sound familiar.
In high school I worked as a carhop at our A&W . . for about two days. Not cut out for that! (not on roller skates thought) We no longer have an A&W but do have a Dairy Queen, however a new building was built on the other end of town. CJ
