Debbie, You did 101 snowflakes? I guess they are all different as snowflakes are.

I am finishing up some knitting that I set aside. Hoping this winter I can get many of my ufo's done.

That is a LOT of snowflakes, Debbie. I have quite a few of my mother's snowflakes and angels she crocheted. I am thinking of putting several of the snowflakes on a dark blue sweatshirt to wear this winter.

Linda, That sounds like a great idea!

I was thinking I have some of those crocheted covers on some ornaments that my mom made. I also have her ornaments. I think I would like to try to make some snowflakes. Do you use starch to stiffen them?

Yes, I made all 101...I know, crazy...and they are all different. I know that I wouldn't have been able to design that many different snowflakes!
Linda, that would make a super cute sweatshirt!
I used 2 different products to stiffen them. That was the part that I really wasn't looking forward to, but it was actually not that bad. I got both bottles at Joann's...one was by Aleene's and the other was called Stiffy. I diluted both with a little water in a gallon ziploc bag and then added a handful of snowflakes, squished them around until they were saturated and then squeezed each one out with the excess going back into the bag. I think that I prefer the Stiffy product over the Aleene's...it was a little more flexible when dry and not quite so opaque looking. My husband drew 15 circles onto a big piece of cardboard and then 60' lines through each one. I covered the board with plastic wrap so the snowflakes wouldn't stick to the cardboard. Then I pinned them to the cardboard following the outlines. They were usually dry within 48 hours.
I'm hoping that my cousin will send me a picture of her completed tree! Last year I had about 18 made and used them in a evergreen garland around a doorway along with some embroidered ornaments. I had thought about hanging some with clear fishing line in the windows but it might be easier to use double sided tape to just stick them where I want. I should have enough this year to try a couple of different idea.s

I looked up the book online, the snowflakes look beautiful. How long did it take you to complete all of them, Debbie? Way beyond my crocheting level!

They don't take as long as you'd think...I could usually finish one in an hour. I did about 18 of them before last Christmas and then worked on them on and off since then. I really pushed myself to finish them this summer. If you can do the basic ch, sc and dc...you can definitely make these!!! They are fun and kind of addicting! I will post a picture this afternoon.

Thank you!
Michelle, I have been putting off going out to my garden to see what is left but I think today is the day. I know I have tomatoes that need to be canned and carrots, beets and onions to dig up. That should be about it. I was almost hoping the frost would get the rest at this point...haha!

Thank you! I will ask my cousin to be sure and take a picture when she gets her tree done. She puts up several trees and has an early holiday weekend with her family around Thanksgiving time.

Last night I finally finished tying my ribbons onto my decorative Halloween ladder. I have had it painted and put together for about 3 years now but never found the time to tie my ribbons on. I'm super excited to have it finished and one more thing checked off my UFO list.

Boy have I failed this challenge! Don't get me wrong, I keep busy and accomplishing a lot but nothing on the original to-do-list. Yikes!

I have also pretty much failed as a host. It has been crazy around here. I will be moving on Halloween. I hope to get everything set up fairly quickly. Once that is done, I promise I will update the Smilies and post some statistics.

Don't worry Marie. Moving is a total pain and worse when you have already moved earlier this year!
