I finally cut one of Sasquash's fruits and found it wasn't a watermelon, but a knobby acorn squash. Now my sweetie wants me to severely trim back Sasquash because its covering a lot of the yard.

Plus, I don't think he likes squash.

No! Don't trim it! It's still beautiful. Are you sure this is an acorn squash.??? Doesn't look like it to me. If it just came up by itself then it can't produce a true to the kind squash as all squashes and pumpkins cross pollinate and they can't produce true. I am assuming you didn't plant it. My cousin was just here and they didn't know that squash that came up by itself could be anything. They wondered why one looked like a pumpkin---LOL. Anyway rock on and I am sure yo knew this and the vine is still beautiful as well as your whole place. Happy days to you.

I cut part of it off and saved 2 squashes for fall decorations. I saved some seeds from the cut squash, who knows what I'll get next year!
We had the wilderness trimmed this weekend.
It has been humid which encouraged the 4 o'clock and cockscomb.
And have you ever seen lilacs blooming in August? This is my Mother's Day Bloomerang, bringing me spring scents in summer.
Before the wild flowers were mowed I cut some. My tomatoes are taking their time getting ripe. I may lose patience and make fried green tomatoes!

Tonight and tomorrow are "pinch pot" workshops at the Augusta Art Guild. Some I made I'll keep, others will go for a fundraiser.
They will be fired, then they will be glazed. I'll post more when they are done.

This is one of the things I made Friday morning. Can't wait to see the mermaid glazed, I'm trying to decide on either a green tail or an orange tail.

I love the squashes! One of my favorite things from the garden. Would love to do a seed swap if you're interested. the pinch pot class looked like fun! I just made fried green tomatoes the other day, they were good! Your plants are wonderful.

Luckily, I scooped out a bunch of seeds and saved them. I'm open for anything!

A glorious sunset, and I took two dogs for a walk this evening. Last month our roadsides had sweetpeas blooming, until the county cut the grass along the road. So as I walked, I looked for survivors and finally found some with ripe pods.

Hopefully these will sprout in the spring and spread.

Thank you, Elizabeth! Part of the property is steep, but very scenic. Today it was hotterin blazes, then it rained, now a mist covers us. The deer are back down in the holler!

This is my little old lady dog, Tina. Lately she's been eating her greens, and any cat nuggets she can find. Storms are blowing in from Minnesota, keeping the grass green.

Yay! We see blue skies (for a while at least). I have to remind myself that I love living here not only for the sunny days, but for the rainy ones too.

Vanessa your pumpkins with saying and rocker are worthy of a Country Living Magazine cover. For decades that's how my sisters and I judge things.

Today is the 1 year anniversary of closing on our home. The changes we made, I hope, have added beauty and comfort to it. I am not one of those who go into a house and tear out things and repaint all rooms (too tiring!). I am content, and thankful for my blessings. On to next year!

I cleaned up the garden this morning. These tomatoes dropped off the vine, so they will get some sun before we eat them.

The weather is getting chilly and the leaves are turning colors. Last night I made parmesan breaded chicken cutlets with spaghetti and sauce. My mother-in-law made shepherds pie. Since we both had leftovers we traded for tonight's dinner.
