Hello ladies! I have a tiny dilemma I would love some opinions on.

This is our cabin, built in 1830.

I want to hang curtains. I plan to use a pressure mounted rod, so as not to harm the logsand trim any further than time has done. I don't want anything dark, since there is no electricity yet, so the natural light is important. The style is where I get hung up.... County, Vintage Repro, Veggies, Flowers, Plaid????

I am seriously considering this print, except in a light blue on ivory background. What do you think? This is a lightweight canvas from walmart, so it is pretty affordable.

If I remember right, your house is basically one or 2 rooms downstairs? Canvas is pretty heavy - I'm not sure about using it for curtains. Is it more like a cotton Duck or denim thickness? The thicker fabric would keep drafts out in the winter, but would also cut down on the light coming in.

Being an old farmhouse in the country, I'd go with a bright and smaller country print, myself.

I can't wait to see what you come up with.

2 down, 2 up. 7 windows. I is really light canvas. But I wondered about it, too. Lighter than average duck, even.

I like the print, but I agree with the thickness question. Seems to me that you would have the drapes opened during the day and closed at night, which would be better for keeping the cold out. Don't forget to put a lining on the back (window side) as it will help keep the fabric from fading, especially when using colors.

I don't know that these will be permanent curtains, but thanks for the fade tip. This Waverly Canvas from Walmart is, seriously, like $4/yd. It is VERY light.

I really like the print! It reminds me of old fashioned country. If it were me I would stick with a country theme rather than plaid or veggies. Could you maybe make one set for one window and see what you think before you buy enough to make all windows? I get the impression you are in love with this pattern, so why not give it a shot!

At $4 a yard, the windows look fairly small, I say go for it. You will know within a few months if it will work, if you are happy with your choice, what you might do differently, and then you can change it later.

If it is that lightweight and that inexpensive, then go for it. A lining is a good idea, and that will help keep out the cooler weather and also help them hang better.

This is the fabric. I made this bread basket liner with it a few weeks ago.

Nice bread basket liner. That fabric will be nice for the curtains.

I can't wait to see what they look like once you have them done!
That's a super cute bread basket liner. It will go great in your cabin kitchen.
