I think the fact that you are chatting on the forums is a pretty doggone good sign!!! You obviously are not one to let a set-back stop you, so I think you will get right at the therapy and show it who is boss. Getting help quickly is the key, and it sounds like you got that covered. I will be sending all my best wishes for your speedy recovery -- I think we all have confidence in you!

I'm so sorry you suffered a small stroke, Teresa. Like Marilyn, I'm really impressed that you are participating in this Forum! Do keep connected with us, your Farmgirl sisters, a good support system is actually a really important key in making progress in rehab. I worked as a Speech Therapist in small town hospitals and nursing homes for 20 years, and that was one thing I learned that really made a difference.

Has anyone mentioned Occupational Therapy for your hand? Like the others encouraged, get as much therapy (Physical, Occupational, or both) as you can and keep up with doing any home exercises you may be given. Perhaps your therapist can suggest complimentary therapies or activities- things like massage- if you ask them, too. At the same time though, and this is the hard part, don't try to go too fast. It can be frustrating dealing with the after-effects of a stroke, but experiencing a set-back trying to push yourself too hard can be worse, unfortunately.

Sending you a hug!

Blessings to you on your life's journey.

Teresa, so happy to hear you are getting better. You cross my mind often.

About 20 years ago I had a silent stroke that wasn't diagnosed until I was going through a battery of test for MS. It was then that the damaged was discovered. One thing I have learned is that it's okay not to do things perfectly ~ what's important is to do them. Imperfections is just a way of letting others know it's original & hand-done.

Thanks. Sara. Funny you mentioned imperfections are ok shows was handmade. Years ago where i lived in Missouri they had applebutter makin days. I was asked to set my loom up at the square in town to demonstrate. I had very little made to sell. Story short
I went and took pieces with flaws. I was stunned most of it sold first. Had a woman ask if i had any with a flaw, she wanted tô show
It was handmade. Lol.

Teresa, my stroke was a slight one and when it happened I didn't know it was a stroke. The doctors thought I passed out because of a virus. For a year afterwards I couldn't pronounce the letter H and my mouth was drawn to the left a little bit. Today when I am over tired or under stress my mouth draws to the left. Between the stroke and MS I have difficulty speaking when I am fatigued.

During testing for MS they determined I have problems with short term memory because of a stroke. I have to keep repeating an action before it is in my long term memory.

Teresa, I have been thinking about you and wondering how your therapy was going. I hope this little set back is short lived and that you will find the upcoming weeks proving to be much better and you will see improvements. Hang in there! Sending you lots of extra hugs for stronger days to come!!!

update; I am doing much better been delays in
progress but plugging along.
thanks to you sisters who have checked in on me appreciated it!

xrays showed the left hip and pelvic bones all twisted out of place
seeing chiropractor getting realigned which is quite a process to go through! NOT a easy fix. patience is required ha
I am walking some of the time and down for the count at other times.
found out I am also going through acsention flu.. while my body is realigning and the energy is learning to redirect itself.. nerves and muscles etc. I had not heard of it before but once you understand the basic principle it makes sense.
So will see how fast I get back to "normal" ha getting there
slowly.
being on MJF has been a big blessing during all this ordeal.
did some card swaps which was good therapy in more ways than one.
now going to do the button swap looking for my button jar!
THAT will be fun.
