Yes, I agree with Winnie, about posting pics of your aprons. Our theme is celebrating aprons!was
It would be really cool if your pic included YOU wearing your apron!

Sylvia, that sounds like fun. What kind of baskets will you be making and what materials will you be using?

I did some basket weaving many many years ago and it is fun and not that hard. Sylvia, what kinds of baskets are you planning to make? It would be a wonderful Jubilee souvenir to make baskets together in celebration and then enjoy them the rest of the year! May I suggest that you get some sharpie pens and sign each other's basket on the bottom or maybe the handle to remember the gathering. Please post some photos of your event together and what everyone came up with.

Basket weaving sounds like fun. I've never tried that. Have a great celebration.

That's a great idea, Winnie! A souvenir basket.

We are being blessed by my friend who is a professional weaver. She weaves anything and loves to do and teach basket weaving. We're doing a large Appalachian egg basket. We'll be wearing long linen aprons to protect our clothing--Ha! We'll be sopping wet and dirty by the end of the day. So looking forward to it, we always have a good time!

That sounds like lots of fun and well worth the effort. Nice of your friend to share her skills.

I had fun making aprons using strips of fabric that are coordinated i.e. one row the strip may be 5 inches, the next strip 2 inches, 1 inch, two inches, 1 inch (whatever suits you) until you have a piece of fabric large enough to make an apron. I sewed coordinating fabric on the back piece (two right sides together and then turn right side out similar to a pillow case effect) and then I made the apron so it was reversible. I will try to find a photo and post it later. Have fun! Annie

Ah gee, thanks. This makes really cute children's aprons too in cute pretty in pink prints. Wildflower prints, birds, bees, whatever your interests. I made it before I was a farm girl, and now need to make an agrarian themed apron. Annie

HI Sisters! My name is Meekah and I am a new member of the sisterhood! #6945. I am super excited to be here! I have a question..which will probably seem absurd, but being new and all what is Jubilee? OH, and just wanted to say how much I love the egg gathering apron! gonna pick up the pattern. Recently I've just been trying to catch up on back issues! I devour them and can't seem to get enough! Plus I've invested in some MJ's books and a little fabric to add to my stash! ready to get creating!

Cheers,

Meekah, hi and welcome. Probably a good way to learn about the Jubilee is to read the posts from last year's. Glad you're joining in!

Welcome Meekah!

This thread and AnnieinIdaho prompted me to put on an apron today gifted to me in 2009 from our Farmgirl Sister of the Year, Carrie W. Over the years, I've received so many wonderful aprons but this one took many, many hours. Just look at all the handwork!

Even tiny little embroidered ladybugs.

Thank you Carrie. I will cherish it forever.
