I've made it through the holiday season without a breakdown...until this morning.

Today, my Moma and I would be doing all the cooking prep for the Eve meal and the Christmas Day meal. Actually, It goes further back to my Nanny, Great-Aunts and my Moma all in the kitchen. I've lost all of them through the years....my Moma this past year.

My daughters are working today. So, I'm alone in the kitchen with no one to talk to or laugh with or make memories with.

The kitchen usually brings me great joy and comfort. Right now, I just want to run away.

Allow yourself the "crazy cries". They are very important in the grieving process.

Sherone, your comment "crazy cries" just about sums it up for me. Those moments hit so unexpectantly. I have to remind myself of the memories I cherish so much of my sister. Things were different this Christmas but we all got through it.

Terri, while I've experienced the pain of loss of my sister, grandparents, parents and others, I do not know the pain you have had of losing a husband. A year and a half is still really fresh. I'm sorry for your loss. I am praying for you, too.

Terri, I'm so sorry, the pain and missing your mate, loved one, family member NEVER goes away!!! (unless one has no love) I feel your grief and broken heart. We love so deeply we ache as deeply when they are gone. I pray you have the hope of reuniting with him one day! Thats what gives me strength to continue on each day. Hope! We are wonderfully and fearfully made in God's image. Hearts of love, compassion and HOPE!! Nothing can replace our loves! Sending you hugs and prayers......

Ladies, I just came across this chat. I just lost my husband unexpectedly this past September. I have children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, but "my person" is gone. There is this huge hole that nothing can fill. I have lost grandparents, parents, a brother, a son, and now my husband. I know God is with me and will get me through this, but sometimes it certainly doesn't feel like it. It is comforting to know farmgirl sisters have been and are going through this grieving process. I pray for God to comfort all of us. May we all have a good Christmas and New Year.

A big hug to you Joan. I'm so sorry for your loss. This time of year brings so many memories of those who are no longer with us. I pray you find comfort in those memories.

Joan, there's not a day that goes by that I don't lift you up in prayer as well as many of my other farmsister who have experienced grief, loss, hardship and sickness. One day this great sadness will no longer be and will be replaced with great joy. We shall see our loved ones again, no more sickness or sorrow! I long for that day! Hugs to all
