I needed something to stop my wools from twisting and knotting together..I checked out some stores and they wool holders were
pricey so when I had and empty tissue box I stuffed the ball of wool in the top and made a hole in the side and pulled what I needed thru..as I knit I pull and It works great...
easy and free..and no more knotted or twisted yarns

Wonderful idea! Was wondering if a long one might work for a regular skein of yarn.

O, a trouble's a ton or a trouble's an ounce,
Or a trouble is what you make it!
And it isn't the fact that you're hurt that counts,
But only--how did you take it?

Deb, great idea!
this idea would work great for 'cotton string' also.. I use cotton sting in the kitchen when tieing up a roast, turkey etc... no need to handle the ball of string.... :>)

Great idea, Deborah! I teach knitting classes and I'm always saying how there are many gadgets that cost so much at knitting stores, but can easily be replicated at home. Love this clever idea! Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful idea. I just took a infiniti crochet class and could have used this. I was chasing my ball of yarn all over the place.

This is cool. My best Christmas ever was home made gifts from my family. My mom made me a yarn caddy out of a oatmeal container that she covered with cloth. It was great!

Marilyn,

Knitting burns 40 - 100 calories per hour (so I read). Knitting is exercise, too ;)

Good ideas,
I'm a card maker and keep one on my desk top for a scrap bin. It's a breeze to recycle the works when full.

These are good ideas. I would love to keep my yarn from tangling. It would also help stop my little ones from grabbing the ball of yarn and tugging on it!

Shared this idea with a good friend of mine who I believe could knit and crochet 24/7 . She loved your idea and has already put it to use.
She asked that I thank you for this wonderful idea. She now has everyone saving their tissue boxes for her. To date, she has accumulated several. They are sitting on a shelf in her craft room with different colors of yarn in them. So on behalf of my friend, I say thank you.

I envy anyone who can crochet or knit. I can crochet a little bit. I have tried knitting (and will keep trying) but for now, I can make one needle do what I need it to do, but the second needle just kind of sits in my hand. Honestly, I believe if that one knitting needle could see, it would roll it's eyes at me and say give it up Lady! LOL!

Have a very blessed day!
