Laurie, your taco soup sounds yummy! I'm in the mood for chicken soup (though I am not sick, just thought it sounds good) with homemade cornbread.

Chinese Style pork with veggies, such as mushrooms, carrots, poblano, onion, and such! My hubby makes the BEST . . it was SOOOOO good!
With rice as well.
AND, "Fresh Pear Cake", also made by my hubby with pears from our tree topped with his homemade plum jam sauce. DELIGHTFUL!!!
My sister from British Columbia has been here visiting, this was the last meal with them as they are headed home tomorrow morning.
It was a perfect meal, a perfect September day!

Last night I hosted my Sisterhood chapter's "International Potluck". I made danish meatballs in curry sauce over rice, served with danish havarti with dill cheese, and cream puffs for dessert. There was also peirogis (sp?), stuffed grape leaves, and pastries.

Tonight I am making a couple of homemade pizzas and need to bake a birthday cake.

Hubby made the MOST YUMMY chunky soup with fresh veggies from vendors at our Farmers Market and our neighbors and leftover "Pumpkin" roast.
Then we made s'mores over a wonderful campfire in our firepit. Hubby was enjoying the smell of the fire so much!
Sat outside around the fire until dark . . . so peaceful and quiet, clear skies with 1/2 moon.
What a restful evening . . . following a nice yummy supper!

Sounds heavenly, CJ! Heavenly!

I made super chunky homemade cheesy chicken pot pie with leftover chicken and extra veggies... had so much filling, had to use a 9x13 baking dish! Perfect on a chilly evening, and we've got enough leftover to freeze for another night! Yum!!!

Nicole - How do you make your taco casserole? I would love the recipe, if you wouldn't mind sharing! Thanks! - Nini

Kristina, Sloppy joes! Haven't made that in a long time! Thank you for reminding me...I must dig out my recipe and make some.

Last night was DH's bday so we grilled a london broil, and made blue potatoes and fresh bi-color, so sweet corn on the cob from the neatest organic farm we found in NY. Followed it with a huge slice of homemade Devils Food birthday cake with fudge icing. I'm putting on weight just talking about it, lol! It was good. Tonight I am making the last of the fried green tomatoes per DD's request, with a fall stew with pork chunks, apples, sweet potatoes, and cranberries. Canning applesauce today.

Nini, it was not me who had the taco casserole...but I'd like the recipe too!

Yum!! Sloppy Joes and London broil - two of my favorites!!!

I'm sorry, Nicole! I really thought it was you! LOL! LOSING IT!! Did you have some sort of Mexican type dish listed, though??

Tonight I'm making my grandpa's famous corned beef hash... I emailed my Mom for the recipe yesterday after finding a forgotten package of leftover corned beef in the freezer. I can't wait - haven't had this in years! Yum!!!

Happy Monday, everyone!

I used to make a corned beef pasta bake that my Mom made for years. Yum!

Not sure about tonight yet. I am canning watermelon jelly and making watermelon fruit leather. I had planned to put something in my crocky (yes, I call my crock-pot the crocky), but got so busy this morning.

Hm? I think I have sugar snap peas in the garden too. Hmm.

This morning I threw a frozen tip sirloin steak in the crock pot, added 10 or so whole tomatoes, and an onion.... Put it on low and left, hoping for the best.

It came out OK. Not great but OK. Hubby was glad to have dinner at home on a busy night for me.. (Knit club) I added some boxed scalloped potatoes when I got home, and the menu was complete.

Inspired by Kristina, I made homemade sloppy joes. They were so good. Used the recipe from the classic red and white Better homes cookbook.

My hubby just loves homemade sloppy joes. In our house we use 4-6 pounds of ground beef - ha ha ha!

Tonight is BBQ southern ribs in the crocky, with garden mashed potatoes and another side (have yet to decide). I am experimenting with the BBQ sauce this time - homemade grape jelly mixed with homemade ketchup.

Tonight?

Guess what?

Last night I got yelled at by the kids!

...."Mom you aren't cooking again are you?!"

Well gee, I just thought my family needed to eat. Sigh....

Guess I'm off the hook tonight. Lots of leftovers building up.

LOL, Kristina.

I'm making some chicken in the oven, with sweet corn, and trying a new recipe for low-fat herbed potato salad. Uses blue potatoes, dijon mustard, and mint with no mayo.

Haddock fillets, pasta topped with sautéed tomatoes, and I might make shortbread cookies for dessert. Glad it's finally cool enough to cook!

A hook, a book, and a good cup of coffee....

Homemade meatball hoagies tonight! Ooohhh I can't wait! Almost done!

Kristina - I feel for you. About an hour ago, my son came down wanting to know when dinner was going to be ready, and what we are going to have. After a hearty, "Oooooh! Yes! Meatball hoagies!" I thought he'd be happy when I told him about 15 minutes ago that it was almost ready... Instead I got a big, "Awwww.. but Mo-o-o-o-om.. I'm in the middle of my game!" <sigh> Sometimes you just can't win... But I sure like your solution: leftovers! Guess what WE'RE having tomorrow night! LOL! You ROCK, sister!!!

Hugs -

Nini

Chicken cooked in the crock pot with home canned pepper mustard sauce (that was gifted to us). I think rice or even past would go good with this and possibly broccoli or even home grown green beans. Mmmmm!

The chicken was delicious. Guess I'm canning pepper/mustard sauce next year.

Tonight, I am going to make a variety of breakfast burritos. I plan to make large batches next year to freeze.

I will use farm fresh eggs, my garden peppers (all types), garden tomatoes, home canned salsa, garden onions, garden potatoes, spinach and possibly sausage. We plan to butcher a hog next year too. Planning it all out is fun.

Sounds great Kristina, I've never had pepper/mustard sauce so I'll definitely check that out. Made greek chicken last night and a pot of chili. One thing I love about chili is 100 ways to make it, and I love trying other people's chili, all so different. So versatile, you can make it with whatever's on hand and comes out a little different each time.

My computer was down over the weekend, I had unexpected guests Friday and Saturday, and so today I am catching up on the Farmgirl Forum, ironing my DH's shirts, and cooking...all at the same time. Multi-tasking! I've got a pork tenderloin in the oven all done up in herbs and garlic, with homemade Greek macaroni and cheese, and steamed organic broccoli. Nice rainy day meal.
