My mother collects beautiful Mexican Talavera pottery. I've now found two pieces of this beautiful pottery at our Goodwill! The first one I found about six weeks ago, a Ginger jar, that retails for $110 or so and I found it for $7! The second find, a pitcher, happened today. It retails for around $80 and I paid $8 for it. My mom is so excited! Last week, I bought a $10 TravelPro suitcase in excellent condition that retails for $350. AND I've found three authentic, vintage Coach bags there, too, over the past few months. We have THE BEST Goodwill!

Here's the pitcher:

In our small town, the Assembly of God hosts a Ladies Clothes Closet. Its open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. I realized that I only had one pair of jeans so I dropped in. I found a beautiful plum Old Navy pullover and 3 pairs of jeans for $1. One pair doesn't fit so it will become a quilt.

Last weekend I went to an estate auction and spotted these sad silver things. Some had engraving from the 1980s for Walking Horse shows. We got them for $6. The ones in front have been polished and the ones in back still need work. Besides silver polish I've used the aluminum foil, baking soda and salt method.
We also got a light up Merry Christmas sign

The lights work too, which is great. We got it for $17.

I found 3 bags of holiday cards, photos, calling cards and postcards at a yard sale. Some of the holiday cards have post marks from 1919, 1930s and 1940s. I'll scan them to share with crafters.

My sister and I went to an estate sale today. I found 3 half aprons for fifty cents each. I wear bib aprons but I like to decorate with half aprons or have on hand for gifts.

A Wesleyan Service Guild cookbook from Roby, TX for $2. No date but all advertisement phone numbers were 3 or 4 digits. The little town is near Sweetwater. Do any of my Texas FarmGirl sisters know when 3 or 4 digits were no longer used?

Great finds Sara!!
Especially the cookbook. I love old church recipe cookbooks. I have a few, but nothing as vintage as what that one appears to be.

My CASA director, knowing of my fondness for sewing, offered her grandmother's sewing machine to me. It is an Electro Brand 300 with push button zig zag. I've just cleaned the cabinet and will see if it still works.
In case you aren't familiar with CASA, it stands for court appointed special advocate. We speak for children who are in the court system due to abuse or neglect.

Beautiful machine---I sure hope it works. Older sewing machines really had style---but when I was young and in home-ec all we had was an old treadle machine. I could sew up a storm on it and my mom used it until she died in 1997. My sister still has it.

oh, and I am sure you already have 'googled' the brand to find out where you can find the bobbin case.. ebay is usually a good place to find anything and everything.

Vanessa,, I forgot to mention,,, I had read somewhere,, long time ago, that a lot of unknown brand name sewing machines were manufactured to use Singer parts.

Maybe you might get lucky and be able to use a Singer bobbin case ... you might have to match it up to the same year or Decade Singer machine to your 'Electro Brand 300'

I only went to 2 yard sales this morning, but hit a jackpot. Got a Kenmore sewing machine for $30, a lusterware bowl and several Kentucky souvenir plates, including 2 of the old Bracken County high school which has been torn down. A piece of history!

Three boxes of vintage (40,50,60's) sewing patterns. I'm like a kid in a candy shop.
