i like a bit of rosemary or lavender... sometimes with a bit of mint, helps to wake me up!

I'm finally trying ACV as a hair rinse! I put some with water in a spray bottle and now keep it in my shower. Amazing how soft it made my hair feel. I have really curly hair which is a nightmare when it comes to brushing it out after a shower. I've only used it once so far but did notice a bit of static after using it. Now I see some of you are adding herbs. I'll have to experiment with that also. Thanks! :)

you can leave in the ACV there will be no static if you leave it in! It will be a bit heavy though.
Personally if we comb my DD hair daily and spray it down with ACV/water each morning before combing, and have her sleep in a sleep cap. We have no problems. However, if we loose a day of combing then we have to kind of slather it in the thick conditioner stuff from the store, and comb through it in the bath, rinse, etc. No leave in conditioner helps too much when we didn't comb it for a day.
For curly hair we also really like Carol's Daughter hair milk. It leaves DD hair really soft but not sticky.

Yup that's it. Try googling no poo shampoo it's a whole movement. Took me about 6 months to convince myself to try it cause it was soooooo simple, but been doing it for nearly 5 years now and we love it!

How do you wash with baking soda? Are you using a paste or a sprinkle or something? LOL I really want to try this but have no idea how to go about it.

Google no poo shampoo and it will explain further.
However, most people add some baking soda to some form of bottle (old shampoo bottle or such) and wet yourself in shower/tub wet your hair, body, etc. And then squirt the baking soda/water mixture on yourself. And rinse with water.
However, for us I just keep the baking soda in a old plastic tub from other use I saved. (say cool whip, butter etc container) I wet my body/hair, or children's body/hair, and then I just dip my hand in the baking soda, and take out enough to kind of rub all over hair, and body as I go. And then rinse with water.
It's really not a difficult thing, don't make more out of it then it is. What I mean is, don't make it difficult or more steps then it needs to be just do what ever works for you. Use your own judgement about how you want to do it for you and your family. All that matters is you are just using water and baking soda. I've heard some people putting the baking soda in a shaker as well and shaking it on themselves. Sounds like a good idea as well. Just don't over build it up in your head. Just do it as Nike used to say. lol There's really nothing that you could do wrong in doing it however you choose.

For any of you that (ahem) get their blonde from the salon,(like me) the baking soda will strip the color over time.
When I finally get to the point that I am OK with the gray, I will use it too.
For now, I go with Aveda or Wen by Chaz which is a cleaning conditioner.
Just a heads up, in case any of you trying this have a hair color that is paid for.. |

Great idea with both the baking soda and the apple cider vinegar. I am going to try it. I am kind of freaked out by all the chemicals in everything now...even products you thought were safe have changed ingredients and no longer are.

Heather, I "just did it" and am very happy with the results. Not to mention, my skin is SUPER soft and the rash I had behind my ears is GONE. Guess that was from the shampoo. Who knew? I followed up with some ACV diluted in a bottle of water and then rinsed it all out....my hair brushed out so easily (and I have very fine, tangly hair).

Curious, has anybody else tried the baking soda/water for washing hair and/or body? Does it work? I don't color my hair so I'm not worried about stripping color out of it. I use ACV for a rinse already although I have never used herbs in it.

I make a hair treatment that might work for you. I mix coconut oil and olive oil together and rub it into my wet hair. I wrap my hair in a towel and leave on for 15-20 minutes and wash. My hair is soft and shiny when I do that. I don't have a lot of grey but I do have some and this treatment seems to work on the grey also.
