My favorite chapter in this book is "Keeping House." When the parents go out of town, the kids have a field day. It' so timeless!

Just got home from Hawaii a few days ago, and I'm still trying to recover. There's not been much activity here, everybody must be busy, busy, busy with summer activities and travel!

Hello Everyone,
I was able to finish one project, but it is quite the busy month and I'm not sure I'll get to another one. I made a batch of refrigerator pickles (I don't have canning equipment, so refrigerator pickles are the only kind I can make). The recipe was pretty simple, you cover sliced kirby cucumbers, onions and celery in salt and let rest in a collander in the sink for a half hour so some of the water drains out. You put the veggies in whatever container you choose and cover with a mixture made of cider vinegar, sugar, celery seed and mustard seed. Eight hours in the fridge and you have spicy/sweet pickles for your sandwiches.
