I have made these shawls for few Farmgirls.
It really is easy.. for those that crochet, it is done in "half granny square".

here is the editorial site:
http://www.hookedonneedles.com/2009/09/learn-to-crochet-half-granny-shawl.html

What really makes a snuggly shawl is using the Peaches & Creme cotton yarn! I used two "cones" for a shawl. I love the "weight" of the cotton and after first washing.. boy oh boy, is it ever soft!!!

Have fun!
Oh! I use H hook

Thank you. I use to do Civil War Re-enacting and I had a shawl like this.

It will be great to do one for myself. Maybe Christmas gifts???? LOL

I loved it! The video was perfect. Now I can do that! There are so many things that the half granny can be used for.
I'm gonna go find a pic.....

OH GOODNESS, Linda that is beautiful.

That would be good to use up leftover yarns.

Where can you get this pattern???

The afghan is very lovely. I visisted the site to see the shawl and boy does that look easy. I've always used yarn for shawls, never the cotton. So my question is this...how much does it shrink? Should I use two strands? I can't wait to get started. Will we be doing this as a group?

Hiya Carmen,
I used one strand and used two cones of the cotton.... It made an ample shawl, I wanted my derrière to be covered.. I washed it... I guess it had minimal shrinkage but I couldn't say how it would affect things like garments and such... The shawl is still the size I wanted it.. not sure if this is much help. As far as a group... well I dunno.. but I personally have no plans to. Maybe someone else... or just show off your own creations here when you have one.
:o)

Here is one of the one that I made

I have a ton of cotton yarn from a failed project. I should give this a try!

Hi Karrieann,

WOW I love your shawl. I started mine today using a varigated cotton in lime green/bright yellow/white. Thanks for your picture. When I'm ready to post a picture I'll have to contact you for a lesson.

This week is "Tulip Time" in Holland, MI. Tons of tourist, festivities, and 3 parade between Wed to Saturday. I just finished up making costumes for our Dutch dancers and now I'm ready for something cold to drink and good book.

Good night to all and may God bless,
