CJ, I like the idea of buttons indicating the levels. I was going to hand embroidery lines. Hum ... I may just borrow your idea. You can get such cute buttons.

I love everyone's ideas here! Very clever and inspiring. My plans are to attach mine to a large tote that has one of the vintage MJF Farmgirl panels on the front. Hopefully, I can get something done this summer when it is blazing hot and I need something to keep me happy inside in the AC!!

My first four merit badges I embroidered or painted and put on fabric luggage tags. I hang them on panty/cabinet door knob to remind me that I have something fermenting and need to check on it. When not in use they hang on pegs by the front door. I like the way they look just hanging there over my collection of canes.
The others I want to embroidery with either all red or brown thread. That's as far I have gotten ~~~ don't know what I will do with them next.
I have always loved red or brown embroidery. All I need to do is decide which one I want to use ~~~ right now I am lending toward the brown.

I just got my first badge, and I was so happy to find this forum. The badge was much larger than I had anticipated it being, so I wanted to make sure I hadn't copied it too big.
I think I will do redwork embroidery on mine and then sew them into hexagon flowers. Probably applique each flower to a pillow top of some red bandana quilt and make pillows for the sofa in my "lodge" room.
Now back to work on my next badge!

Sara, your idea sounds wonderful. Would love to see pictures of your painted/embroidered badges.
Marilyn, Sounds like a lovely plan for displaying your badges. Would enjoy seeing pictures.
Aren't badges fun to work on? Just last night I was reviewing by binder and started working on some new ones!

Nicole, I absolutely love the raw farmgirl style of your badge. You can tell at a glance it was hand stitched and I think it is beautiful. I have done very little embroidery and after stitching my chicken and felt like it wasn't 'perfect' so I sort of gave up on the rest.
After seeing how beautiful your patch looks on the denim I am encouraged to finish mine. I know that when I'm done, it will be all me, hand stitched and as quirky as I am and that will be just right. Thank you for sharing and for encouraging me!

Lynette, that is really pretty the way you hand embroidered it. I am thinking of doing the same thing (I could also work on the embroidery badge at the same time  }
Mary, the thought of doing an hexagon quilt has crossed my mind. If you borrow CJ's idea of buttons for the levels it would not effect the size of your hexagon.
