I am working on too many projects...just finished a 1/2 apron, doing a counted needlepoint project, a large Disney cross-stitch, just started a sock and the Great American Aran Afghan and knitting a shawl. That is probably just a start, I also have lots of UFOs to use up. Can't seem to do just one type of project at a time. Oh yeah, also working on a Grandmother's flour garden hexagon quilt top, stitching by hand...not too far on that one yet!

Those signs are adorable. Tammy I am kind of like you with lots of things going on. I just finished another apron. I have a quilt ready to be quilted, one that I am working on, two pirate dolls being made, scrapebook pages to do and I am sewing some quilts for the dogs at the local dog shelters. Like you I can't seem to do just one type of project at a time. Somehow the doll making and designing keep coming into my like as does the textile art work. It's all so much fun.

Just finished armchair covers for a friend at work. Here's a Kindle case I made for my son-in-law. He's a fan of--you guessed it--Superman! Dianne in the Hudson Valley

It is so much fun to check out this thread and see what everyone is working on it keeps the creative juices running just have to find the time to do some of the projects. Just got another order for a wedding pillow which I will have to start. Makes me put projects aside because of time lines. Guess that is what I will be starting on today.

The Southern California Genealogical Society has sent an anouncment to me. I have won top billing in their GENEii writers competition!

My narrative of Nellie Cowdrey's life during the Dust Bowl years will be published in "The Searcher." This is the Society's research and family history journal.

The SCGS is a well organized, very helpful organization. They have interesting information on their site for all family history researcher's, even those who do not live in Southern California.

http://www.scgsgenealogy.com/

Here is the listing of winners. Entries come from around the world.

"Now with a drum roll and no further ado, here are the winners of the 2010 GENEii contest:

Category1:
> 1st Place - Carla Garner: Farm Wife
> 2nd Place - Janet Aird: Indian Princess
> 3rd Place - Ceferino Aheuro-Baca: Fur Trader
> Honorable Mention: Barbara Randall: Meet my Great Grandpa Arthur
> Finalists - Emily Cary: Perverse Roots; Lynda Barlow: Pistol Packin' Grandma

Category 2:
> 1st Place - Joyce Roberson: Reprise
> 2nd Place - Judith Cole: Jersey Shore
> 3rd Place - Marsha Worth: Math Teacher
> Honorable Mention - Carla Garner: Eva
> Finalist - Carla Garner: Community"

Maybe it's just the fact that it is Spring and I am thinking of gardening - but I've got a bad case of the gnomes!

Hi Everyone,
Thank you! I was startled to find that I had won. The judges comments were very nice too. They reaffirmed my commitment to my craft and the gift I will leave to those who come after me.
I hope they will make this year's entries online. They put last year's up.
I will let you know what I find out.
Smiles!
Carla

Pegg~ The first one is actually a fleece blanket. I have to put an updated photo up because it has a big red mushroom gnome home in the middle now - complete with curling smoke coming out of its chimney!

Thank you for the compliments on the Superman Kindle case. My SIL loved it (it's red, though it looked PINK in the photo!). Congratulations to Carla on your award and publication! Elaine, love the gnome fleece--too cute! Dianne
