I have been working on a quilt for my sister n law, since my brother has one, my 5 yr. old niece has 2 and my nephew that had 4 BEFORE he was even born and now is 7 months old - it's time to make her one!! :o) My parents started taking us as children to the Outer Banks in North Carolina when we were little, we now all take a family vacation there every year with our children now - so I went online and got pictures of all the logo's for the resturants we like to go to, her favorites - I drew them all onto fabric and painted them, now Im busy piecing them together! I just discovered last night, that I needed 6 more blocks of something to add in and went to find more white on white in my stash and OH NO! IM OUT!! So... Im off to hunt down some more of that!! I'll post pictures when I get the top all sewed together!!

I just finished up a heavy cotton bonnet with lace & pantaloons with laces for under my skirts & gardening dresses...I am still working on a sleeveless white cotton top make from an antique bed sheet from around the 1940's. It has beautiful lace work that I was able to cut so that the lace is at the botton of the front of the shirt. I hope to have it finished in the next few days...then who knows what I will be creating!!!...lol...Michele'

Wow, Pennie! Your quilt is amazing. You even painted the logos onto fabric before sewing and quilting! No wonder it takes so long to create. But what a keepsake! Dianne in the Hudson Valley

You all do such beautiful work!
I am currently working on a reusable shopping bag that I am making for a swap partner. I have finished the embroidery and the outside of the bag. Today I would like to finish lining the inside and sew on the straps. Can't believe it is 1 o'clock my time already!! I still have "chores" to do!!

I am going to be making a carpet bag. A friend sent me the directions for an authentic carpet bag made in the 1800's. They are so difficult I cannot follow them. I looked up some directions on the computer and found a site in England that sells a pattern so I sent for that one. I am waiting now for it to arrive. I am anxious to see how it will look like after I finish it. Today I am finishing my Mail Art for April and will be sending it off tomorrow.

I finally finished the string art for my Aunt. The closest thing I can find to this is crewel [a suggestion from another farmgirl] or a sort of embroidery.

Got the flowers and ferns on the front part of the scene.
Just got to frame it now.

Smiles!

Teresa,
It took month's, because I could only work on it an hour a day.
I loved doing it though. It's a form of meditation making all those shapes and using the different colors.

Carla that is really nice. I used to do a lot of crewel work so I appreciate the labor of love that was. I'd be happy with that gift for sure!

I made an apron and laundry powder today. And did a ton of laundry. Again. :)

Carla...that turned out just FABULOUS! Thanks for letting us see the finished work. Your Aunt is going to flip over that. Are you framing it? Wonderful job...so very creative.

Hey Farm sisters, I have not been on in some time, so I decided I had better keep in touch.
I have been doing some odds and ends in sewing and today I will finish my third skirt I bought at the thrift store. every thing I wear has to be hemmed. So I have done that and a pair of pants for hubby. He is short to.LOL. He isn't as short as I am but he has a short inseam, I am 4' 10 so even a petit is long on me. I can buy capris and they are ok for long pants on me. LOL
Hope you all are well and I have been keeping up with you all even though I haven't posted. Till next time, Hugs from Farmsister 1020 Needy
