Need to finish cutting fabric for this Prairie Hill quilt. It will be so easy to put together. It's a lap quilt. Making it for hubby to cuddle with when he watches TV. Making a Christmas version too.

This is what happens when I try to get back in to crocheting! LOL! I am repairing some tiny tears in this bedspread my Great Aunt Mattie crocheted in the late 1940's. I just inherited it from my mom. My Great Aunt Mattie taught me to crochet in the 1970's, just a basic single and double Crochet, but working full time and raising a family, I didn't practice for years. My mom said she remembers her crocheting on this when she graduated high school in 1950!

Wow! Looks like the stitchers and crafters are in full swing! Your projects all look so beautiful! Connie, that kitty pic is so cute! Love that bedspread. I would love to get back to crocheting with the fine threads. Can't believe I haven't used it since I was 20. Sylvia, I think the toughest part of quilting is cutting the pieces. Your quilt pattern is sure one I would like. I just finished crocheting a blanket for a second g-grand daughter. I'm glad it's finished so I can go back to quilting. Here are a few pics from Sept and Oct at our house.Me with my namesake. Baby Marco was born 8 weeks early and is now at home. I'me working on a quilt for him now. The wedding pic is my daughter with my grand daughter. This fibro lady is ready for a rest.

Connie,

My hands are just itching to work on preserving and repairing that bedspread. I have done this before and I love it.

My cat liked to play with my yarn and I didn't mind except she would chew it and break it. I miss her.

Judith, Precious Pictures! Beautiful Family! I have your picture from the Farm Girl Picture swap from last year! I was sick and couldn't sign up and you sent me a picture, (your sitting in a beautiful wooden rocker, you need to go sit and have a rest!) and a Beautiful white hankie, which I still have! I would love to get better crocheting with the fine thread. I am lucky to have a few dresser scarves that she crocheted. I spent a lot of time at her house when I was a little girl and she was always crocheting!

Marie, I know you miss your Cat Baby, I love mine and have had to say goodbye to several over the last 30 years. They are such a joy to me! I can see your passion for preserving, comes straight from the heart! I love restoration too! I have to try, even when people say, no way to fix that, it is hopeless, sometimes I succeed and sometimes I make a pillow ! LOL!! Lucky for me, I have some of the original thread. and it has no stains anywhere, It was in a cedar chest, when she passed away in 1997. I got a box of Great Aunt Mattie's sewing things and her old singer, which is a treasure to me! The women in my family never threw away anything!! I am taking my time, It has about 6 holes, the biggest one being the size of a dime. It is a full size spread. I have it draped over my piano, while I work on it, to keep it flat and smooth.

I will post a better picture when I am done.

My quilt for a birthday/Christmas gift was finished a couple of weeks ago. Turned out pretty good if I do say so.

Well since I have gotten in the mood for some sewing, after doing the canning and preserving for the winter. I am thinking about the holidays and doing some Christmas presents. Have been looking at some of my books and have found some things interesting and I have decided to use some of my stash. I need to get rid of so much stuff. I'm trying not to buy other stuff until I use some that I have. Does anybody else have this problem? Also I have done some Aprons. Thats about it so far.
I would like to ask if the farm girls would remember me in prayers, I have to have a colonoscopy on 11th of November, hoping and praying everything turns out ok. Thanks, Farmsister #1020 Juanita

Thanks Farmgirl friends. That is the second quilt I made using that pattern. It is HUGE! Queen size. I think my DDIL will love it. I still have one more to make. My first was made with a black background and my son-in-law really liked it. My second is as you see it. My third will have a silver gray background. Will be glad to get it finished so I can start something new.

Juanita,

Yes, I have the stash overflow problem and no time to tackle it. I have yarn, crochet cotton, fabric, macramé cord, beads etc. If you want to downsize the stash of things you don't really need, bartering them for stuff you really do need. No money involved except for shipping and it is a win on both sides.

Juanita,
I HAD to do a major destashing in the past few months. Just feeling overwhelmed and it became necessary for my sanity! It took some effort to get started because I didn't where to start but I'm SOOOOOOOO glad I did and have been able to reclaim some of my house and actually SEE most of my supplies. I had so much stuff that I had had a long time and wasn't using. I make aprons to sell and had to just sew through and use up a lot of fabric . . . haven't purchased any since March and it's been nice to make some sense of it all.
Wishing you the best with your projects and endeavors!

I finished an order for a customer for curtain panels (AARRGGGHHHH), tablecloth and six placemats. SOOOOOOO glad to be done!!!

Then, I've also been cleaning out my "new" little glamper that just came to live at my house on Monday. So tickled to bring "REIVER'S REST" home for my daughter and me for our glamping adventures.

Just finished up with these. They took me a while to make but I really like how they came out. The book angel is my favorite as I am an absolute book nut.

I finally will have time this weekend to put a dent in my mending. The problem is that I have mixed the ironing with the mending so I will have to sort that out.

This weekend I will be volunteering at a Fixit Clinic. This is a county-wide program which sets up shop in various places and people volunteer their skills to fix whatever someone brings in and teach them how to do it themselves next time. I will be bringing my sewing machine, some material to make patches, thread and whatever tools I need to sew. Guess I'll have to bring an iron too.

Been watching Youtube videos on making mittens from old felted sweaters...looks like a fun, easy and inexpensive project and they are so adorable. Problem is I'm not that into mittens! I love the look but don't like not being able to have my finger dexterity so maybe I'll opt for some fingerless glove/arm warmers or something like that. On my way now to thrift store for some sweaters!

Fingerless gloves and wristlets are very popular now because of the wide use of cell phones, iPhones and pads.
