I have a fresh batch of spiced crab apple butter. The taste makes me think of mulled apple cider. It's great on buttermilk biscuits. My biscuits are horrible, haven't gotten good at them yet, but my grandma's are amazing! Have some. I will be doing about 8 more batches over the next few weeks. Anyone know anything else that crabapples are good for? I've been told to take all I want from the lady down the road. She doesn't like them or use them. I love good neighbors!

Good Evening Ladies...is there room on the Porch Swing tonight? It has been a
beautiful day here for a change and I worked in my garden and on my porch (container
plants) and then did some water-color painting and read. It has just been one
of those really delightful days. Hope yours was too. I didn't do any cooking
to speak of today...so are there any of those peanut butter cookies left over
from this morning? They would go well with my Red Roobio Tea tonight.
Blessings,
~peggy

Good morning! Sunny but cool here today. I will need a jacket when we go to deliver meals.

Peggy, yes there are some peanut butter cookies left. Enjoy!! I made some strawberry scones this morning too. I'll have a cup of that tea, please.

Enjoy your day!!!

I love waking up early to a cool, sunny morning and everyone's still asleep. Enjoying a cup of coffee before the little ones wake up. Have a beautiful day ladies!

Me too Dana, I love the cool morning on my porch while everyone is still sleeping with my coffee. Of course it gets hot before we know it here so I have to get up early to catch the cool morning air.

This porch seems like such a glorious place to relax and gather ones senses after a crazy day...If there is room for one more, I'll bring some raspberry iced tea and shortbread cookies, just leave me a spot to put my feet up....(this hot weather edema is killin' my footsies)

I would like to sit on the porch today and gather some civil war skirts with you all, I have too many and too little time.

Evening ladies. I have some coffee that just finished percolating. Anyone interested. The shortbread cookies made me think about thumbprint cookies. If I had some jam, I'd make some. Long but wonderful day spent with the kiddos. We left the house around 8:30 to go to a fish hatchery and after our time there with fellow homeschoolers I took the kiddos to lunch at Sweet Tomatoes. First time there and the price wasn't too bad. 14 for the 3 of us. It was another nice day here in the NW so after lunch I decided to take the kids on a hike and ended up driving out to Beacon Rock which is near the dam. I sure am worn out. So much to do around the house but I just felt like today was going to be a day of relaxing. The kids hear "No", "Don't", "Stop" and so on so much and then I get caught up with the house stuff. I figured we could all use a day just being together.

Tami Lynn, we home school, too! Thanks for sharing your day... it was nice to visualize. We home school year round & sometimes it feels like it's too bookish and not enough getting outside into the fresh air and into nature for some hikes and exploring. Your posting's inspired me to want to get the kids out and about to do a nature hike in this next week. Thanks! *handing you a glass of fresh lemonade with organic lemons, lightly sweetened with agave nectar* :-)

Good Morning Ladies,
This seems like a good morning to join you on the porch with a fresh percolator of hot coffee. It is a cold one here, in the 50s and only supposed to go into the 60s today.

Have any of you tried long distance gardening? I have my usual garden in my backyard, but this year I also planted one at my mother's house, which is 4 hours away.

Carpe diem!

Julie Anne,
I hope you are able to get out and do something in nature with the kids this week. It's refreshing. I'd love a glass of lemonade with agave nectar.

Thanks,
Tami

Hi Porchies...I need a hot cup of coffee this morning...did anyone bring the POT??? It is wet and cold here and I feel like doing nothing but cozying up with a good book and a quilt on the porch swing. But my beloved mother-in-law had a heart attack so I am headed up to the hospital instead. For those praying sisters out there...say a little prayer for her; her name is Patricia.

blessings,
~peggy

Praying for your mother in law Peggy...will a pot of tea do? Not a coffee person here but do have some English Breakfast tea. We practically need a row boat to get around today. We have had over 3 inches of rain today...yikes

I would love to join all you wonderful people on the porch, if you'll have me

Peggy-healing healthy vibes and thoughts coming your MIL's way.

Tammy-I am feeling your pain. I swear I saw some guy building a boat and ushering animals on to it. I don't think I've seen the sun since last May.

Prayers for you Peggy and your dear MIL! I'm sorry to hear of your sadness. I made some egg/spinach/parmesean omelets and cranberry muffins as well as good strong Hazelnut coffee, if anyone's interested! I know, it sounds more like breakfast, but I've taken some vacation days from work this week and my daughter and I are practicing the "no structure/no schedule" routine and loving it!! Hope everyone is having a nice evening!! Hugs and Smiles, Lin

Peggy,
How is your MIL? How is your husband holding up? And you?
Channah, my little ones are only 4 and 5 but I knew before conceiving that we would homeschool. I went to private school and public school and decided that home schooling is what I wanted for my "future" children. God blessed me with a man who's views are so similar to mine so homeschooling was never an issue for us. Do you homeschool?
