I was just wondering if you could substitute pears for the apple pie filling (mary janes recipe) or would there need to be other changes to the recipe? Or does anyone have a recipe I could use? my mom has already canned 32 pints of pear preserves and wants me to use the rest of them which is quite a lot! Just need some ideas
I don't know that pears would hold up in pie baking like apples do. I would think they'd turn to mush. I could be wrong, so try a small batch and see what happens! I would think pearsauce would be really good done the same way as applesauce. Or just can them up in halves and you can make some flamboyant desserts out of them through the winter!
