First of all, you will have to have your photos posted somewhere else on the Web (at Yahoo photos, your own ISP's server, etc.) before you can actually insert your photos on one of our threads. On our site, you're just basically making a link to your photos that are already "on the Web." For example, HapyHrt's photos in A Farm of My Own/LQQKY! Beth's New Farm!!! *pics! reside at
http://tinypic.com/ejzpkn.jpg (not on our server, but at tinypic.com).

If you do already have photos posted somewhere, then here's how you go about making a link to them in a post:

On my computer, when I choose "reply to topic," I get a screen that allows you to type in a text box. At the top of that text box, there is a line of symbols that allow you to format text, add hyperlinks, etc. On that line of symbols (starting with a B for bold type), you'll see a little icon that shows a picture of mountains (fourth symbol from the right). If you mouse over that, you'll see it says "insert image" Just click on that once and it will insert two image tags: (img)(/img) (except they'll have brackets around them instead of parentheses, but I can't show you that here since that won't allow you to see the code.) Then you'll insert your photo link address between those two image tags, like this:
(img)http://tinypic.com/ejzpkn.jpg(/img) (again, these will be brackets instead of parentheses)

Hope this helps!

thanks carol .. i got everything .. but now i have to figure out how to post 'on the web' .. will try to go to 'yahoo photos' and see if i can figure out how to post to that.

my own isp server? hmmmmm .. not sure how to do that .. i don't think my isp (starband.net) has a place to post pictures.

sure wish i could just go to 'my pictures' on my computer .. and get them from there? do you know if that is possible?

i'll figure this out sooner or later. xo, frannie

Hi Frannie.
No, you can't just go to "my pictures" on your computer and link to pictures there. They have to be posted on the web somewhere first. We don't have a site to "upload" pictures to since we have limited server space, so that means going to a photo service online (like Yahoo photos) and uploading your photos there.

Thanks and good luck!
Carol

Jenny, I don't use photobucket, I use Sony's ImageStation. You go to www.imagestation.com, and follow their directions. You can split your computer screen, have your pics on one side and their screen on the other, and simply drag your pics to their site. Then, when they're successfully uploaded, you go to your pic and right click on it. At the bottom of the box it'll say Properties. When you click on that, it'll give you some information about your pic; how many pixels, etc. In the middle it'll have the URL, or the picture's address. You copy that by highlighting and then right clicking, then clicking on Copy. Then you come back to the Farmgirl board, and click on Reply to Topic. In the bunch of little boxes at the top of where you write your message, there's a little box with a picture and a little trumpetlike thing on the side. Click on that, and it'll make something in your message box that looks like this: [ img ] [/img ]. You click in between that to place your cursor there, right click and bring up the little box that says Paste, and then click on that; it'll automatically paste in that looong address for your pic. You can then hit Preview underneath to make sure it 'took.'

I know it sounds long and complicated. It's much easier if I could show you; then it goes really fast. And the more you do it, the easier it becomes. Now I don't even give it a second thought, and I'm really a dork with computers.

I hope this helps!

I tried the sony imagestation and it is very easy. This was the result on my first try.

Great job!!! Now if you want to make it bigger, then when you're in your album in Imagestation, left click to select your picture before right clicking to get your properties. Then paste that URL. It'll be bigger. Because I'd love to see that quilt in more detail.
