well..everyone in my family sent in..and I now have at least 30 varieties of heirloom tomatoes:)
and the good thing about tomato seed is that they are viable for 5-10 yrs.

I fully plan on having a green house at the new place.
So I can grow certain varieties and make sure they are kept with the proper strain.
So they can be kept and cultivated for a long time true to the line.

I grow my cabbage in the greenhouse, just for the simple fact I hate buggy cabbage. Works out great for me.

I'm going to have a greenhouse too. DH has been collecting glass for about four years now.

oh...and..the neat thing too is they send extra seeds for things other than tomatoes..so if you send in for the tomatoes count on receiving another vegetable heirloom variety..I received some heirloom squash, broccoli rabe and heirloom bean variety as well.

hi Corinne and Alee....anyhow..if you haven't sent in for them..do..because this time around they have a much larger selection to choose from and most of the variety this time is heirloom.

Be careful with a glass greenhouse Teresa. I had one and it didnt work out to well for me.

Too much temp variation, and you need to make sure you can control the sunlight situation.

Well, mine won't be soon..it will be about four or five years before I get it. We'll have to build the shop, the house, the barn, then maybe the greenhouse.

wintersown.org this winter they have a slew of heirloom tomato seeds that have been donated all's you have to do is send in a self addressed stamped envelope with 2 stamps and list 6 varieties of tomatoes from their list with an alternate 4 varieties you'd like..and they will send you what is on your list..each envelope I received back had no less than 9 varieties of heirloom tomatoes and 2 extra pkgs of seeds some of the extras were either broccoli rabe, an heirloom bean, or an heirloom sweet squash variety
I now have no less than 30 varieties of heirloom tomatoes plus some heirloom bean and heirloom squash and lots of broccoli rabe seeds.
