**I am "extending" the Jubilee for this week so more people can join in with us...so it will go on until the end of this coming weekend**
Allrighty girls....I could not contain myself and I decided to leave with my trailer a little early. Off we go to our ideal farmgirly wilderness...wherever our minds take us.
For those of you that don't have a blog, set up camp here and feel free to post as well as making a visit to the gals that do have a blog. Visit the listed blogs for an "extension" of the campout party thoughout the weekend (blog gals can post here in the message thread too):
Amy (aka Amyartgirl)@ Tales of an Urban Farmgirl http://farmgirltales.blogspot.com
Deb (aka City Chick)@ My Pondering Place http://www.xanga.com/My_Pondering_Place
Kay @ The Rustic Cottage http://therusticcottage.blogspot.com/
Jenn @ Yogi Farmgirl http://yogifarmgirl.blogspot.com/
A note before we head out:
**Keep in mind, when posting pictures, keep them to a minimum and keep them at a smaller size, if possible (for bandwidth space in mind).
So without further ado, let the fun begin! |

I don't have a blog, so I'll set up camp right here. It's early yet, so after we get there, let's go for a walk and see what we find. :)
Here's my 1975 Airstream, set up and ready for fun.
Of course we're going huckleberry hunting, and since it's a hot day, we'll need to rest, rehydrate, maybe do a little sewing, and of course visiting!
What's your favorite thing to make with huckleberries or other wild edibles you collect?
7:30 pm update...there's a storm a comin'! Not virtual either. I'll see if I can safely get some neat lightning photos to post. Power may go out, so this is goodnight farmgirl campers! Huddle up in the trailers and listen to the wind, rain, and thunder. Some poor coyotes will be dripping tonight while they yip and howl. So much for a fire tonight with guitar music. Hope it looks better tomorrow night. Ohh hear it! Yikes. |

I just popped over to visit the other gals, and there are some neat campsites! I may get bored in my lunch box, away from my hoped-for firepit while the real weather is so thundery and start singing (and posting the lyrics/music for y'all to join in) by the light of my coleman lantern. Oh, maybe we can tell scary stories? Scary farmgirl stories? Oh...what if we take turns, you know, pick up where the last gal left off. I think we did this a year ago and it was funny.
"It was raining pitchforks and hoe-handles on the range that night. It ran down off the brim of Tex's hat in a steady stream. He was thankful Lucky, is medicine hat pinto, knew the way through the black and treacherous terrain of the badlands. His only view was punctuated by lighting showing the bluffs, sagebrush, and gullys full of fast moving water. Why had he wandered so far off and stayed out so late? He knew better, and yet here he was."
We make a difference. |

Oh, I'm here! Just stayed "out of camp" while the storm was going, then "out of camp" yesterday while I was putting up some real fencing. Too pooped to pop! Going back out today to finish setting the posts, but I will be back "in camp" with songs, to continue the fun story, and of course check what the other campers are doing. I DO love this idea! I'll be back with sheet music to post and some lightning photos. Toodle-ooh for now!

Amy! I love your adorable trailer and truck combo! So cute and ready to go.
What kind of hike are we on? I just got scolded by a pair of towhees for getting too close, so looking around on the ground I found a fledgeling...better move on quick. See and hear a towhee: http://content.lib.utah.edu/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/wss&CISOPTR=104&CISOBOX=1&REC=1 We make a difference. |

Time for a campsong and a rest on our birdwatching hike, Amy? Any other gals please feel free to drop in.
Here's a spot where you can get the complete lyrics and even listen to the song being played: http://www.gitarrero-beginner.com/easy_guitar.php?lied=red_river_valley
The version I have is somewhat shorter, and you can see some previous guitar student was awarded an "A" by the music teacher.

I am here...I was lagging behind on the hike, I spotted a few interesting singing birdies and I just had to observe just a little longer...it is such a bee-utiful day today!
Yes, let's sing a song, I hear the guitar music now....."the cowboy that loves you so true.....yodle-lehe"!

Great singing Amy! What kinds of birds did you encounter today? I'll have to pop back in to see what is going on at the other campsites...maybe it's just taking folks a bit longer to "travel" to our destination. :)
I actually did have that run-in with towhees while putting up my fenceposts today. Silly things nest on the ground! Had to be careful to work around the little one. Not so easy with all the equipment we had out.
Also found a really great coyote den I hadn't seen before. Didn't have my camera, but I did get a picture last month of this forlorn looking pup. They look so scrawny and sad when they are finally pushed out on their own. I know coyotes aren't exactly popular, but I sure wished this guy well. Maybe he'll sing to us when the sun goes down?
Hey, you want to try something yummy? Take a pie iron (square looking campfire cooking tool), layer a graham cracker, chocolate, peanut butter, marshmellow, and graham cracker, heat it all up inside the pie iron, and voila...the best s'more ever! Of course, I've started leaving out the marshmellow...mmm. Very messy and tasty!

Ah, you gotta love a western sunset!
Listen to coyote singing: http://content.lib.utah.edu/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/wss&CISOPTR=149&CISOBOX=1&REC=4
Etiquette check: Please let me know if you want me to edit the music page to something smaller. My thought was that someone might like to play along, and the larger size would make reading easier. But if it really takes up too much space, let me know. We make a difference. |

Okay, now I've learned to blog. I'll continue here and there and hope more farmgirls pull into camp this week. You know, it is all the fun with no packing, no 'skeeters, and all the fun-filled things you'd like to do "if only". Come on by! http://huckleberrywine.blogspot.com/

What a very pretty sunset! Yes, it must be taking folks a bit longer to get to their campsites...so I decided to "extend" the Jubilee...so hopefully others will check in soon.
The birds, I saw some robins, chickadees and a nightingale.
Love your new blog...way to go. As for the sheet music picture size, looks fine to me...should be OK :)

We'll definitely have to do this again! I loved reading what everyone did.

Hi Luna...Would love to have you join in! I decided to extend this because of people being busy, etc...so all you have to do is add in your photo(s) and your text about what you posted. To get the blog banner onto your blog: 1st off go to the image in this post and do a right mouse click and select 'save picture as' to save on your computer...then add it to your blog....put it in your side bar....that is normally the best place. OR you can even put it as an image in your post. Clear as mud right?!?! :-)

I just wanted to drop by and say this is the coolest idea! Great job, Amy! I mentioned it again in the Sisterhood/Chapter newsletter for this week, so I'm glad the trip is being extended. Who ever wants to go home anyway?! I get so comfy "out there"...
I've got a few pics on my blog of my kids' homemade marshmallow roast over our backyard fire pit, if that counts as part of the Jubilee. I'll have to take some pics of our little '65 Aristocrat trailer. It ain't fancy, but it sure is fun. We're hoping to live in it for almost 2 whole weeks while we elk hunt as a family in Colorado. Will keep you posted!

Hi everyone, I'm new to MJ's forums. Lots to read and I'm so enjoying your all blogs sites. Love the idea Amy/ amyartgirl, "Campout Jubilee" . Perfect timing too cuz I just got a popup camper yesterday to put in my real woods. I won't be taking it on real trips but making an Outpost out in our woods. But it will be real. Sun,shade rain, sleet and snow. Campfire diners, lanterns for night reading, banjo and fiddle, plus a tin whistle too for our music intertainment, well I will need to brush up on those, so be glad this is a virtual campout, lol. Oh and some knitting projects like socks, dishcloths ,etc. And then quiet times to just hear the night critters and bullfrogs in the pond. And then theres the camp stories and laughing hard that will be with all you campers. I have already visited your blogs and know this will be a hoot. I'll be posting pictures on my blog and keeping an Outpost Journal of my camp and plans. My thoughts of having a tipi and spending a week or two out in the winter time, ah just because, lol. But this new/old camper came up and a whole new project too. Inspired by Mary Janes Outpost and the gals that go camping and fly fishing. Sisters on the Fly!!! I would so love to have company on my campouts and this just sounds like so much fun. DH likes his TV and soft bed but once in awhile if I have something good cooking on the firepit he'll come out, lol. My sister may come out and join us, she is loaded with stories. Hope I can join you on the campout, I'm loaded up and ready to roll. I'll put on a pot of coffee and bring in the wood.
Jen those homemade marshmallow look yummy : )
Come on over an visit my blog and take a look at what I'm rollin up in lol, hope it makes it, LOL.

Ths Amy, I just got here to your campsite, been over at the welcome to MJ's. I'm glad to see the fire still going and what a moon, love those pictures. Mind if I pull out the harmonica, and play a few oldies. Ok I'll stop, I know I haven't practice, sorry about that.
What's that noise, over there, hear it??? Sounds like a critter, a big critter. Better throw another log on the fire. Guess I missed out on the smores ,uh.
Cookin out on the campfire, whatcha all use? Do you have a dutch oven? I want one of those, can do some serious baking at the camp.
When it comes to a wiener roast , do you use metal prongs, toss em on the grill or cut off a branch from a tree?
Theres nothing finer then outdoor cooking, the smell, taste and outdoors is why we camp.
Oh this camp is nice Amy.
Amy, I'm not able to comment on your blog, very nice blog. My Pc is half broken, some things I can do and others stuff I cannot : (. Got to get it the fixer up shop someday.

Hello ladies!
I love my dutch oven!!! Unfortunately it's in the pop-up and I can't get to it. I'm thinking of bringing it out for the winter so I can cook outside over our campfires. When camping season is over.
We bought some forks to use for roasting hot dogs over the fire. My girls were getting upset when their dogs would fall off into the fire.
We're thinking of putting up a small pup-tent in the yard for the girls to have their own "outpost".
Jenn - your shasta is cute!!!
