Welcome to Pen-Pals thru Snail Mail! This forum is for anyone who would like a long-term pen-pal. Having a pen-pal is so special because of the bonds that you build with other farmgirls across the nation. Below is a current master list of the pen-pals that have already been matched up. I will update the list as new pen-pal seekers are added. This list is ONGOING, so it is NEVER TOO LATE to sign up

Me too! Mail Art is fun but if you aren't in that mood and want to write instead this would be really nice.
I know last year we had several RAOK (Random Act of Kindness) lists going around...
We could do the NOTE Writing the same way...Everyone will get a list of names and addresses and send those kind words and life updates to whoever is on the list.
I would love to do this if anyone else wants to or I would be happy to be BarnChickCicily's pen-pal. 
Anyway is fine with me!

All we need is a list of addresses..We can easily send off an email to each person that's interested and exchange mailing addresses.
Kind of keeps it simple and each person is accountable for how many they'd like to exchange with. I know for myself if there's too many names then someone gonna get short changed due to not having the time and that takes the fun and purpose out of it.
What's everyone think about that?

Hey Bertha, I see you are new to the forum..Welcome!
Since this is a public forum you may not want to leave your email address in your post...you can click on any members screenname and it will open up to an email form so you can contact the person. I just know how spammers are..they are always hunting email addresses.
The pen pal group will be fun and relaxing since there's no deadlines..YAY!! When it comes naturally it's always a good thing..LOL

Sounds Wonderful!!! I am really excited about this! So, now the question is 'who writes to whom?' I would hate for someone to get left out. What is the safest way to get our addresses to eachother without spammers getting them... email?

Ok, Cecily, on the first post, you should see some ICONS at the top of the post, right next to the date. One of those Icons is the EDIT button. Click on it and edit the title...umm, maybe something like "Pen Pal Sign Up" might work?
I don't know how to match folks up...everyone pick someone, maybe?

Yes, change the topic name to "Pen Pals via Snail Mail List" or something so everyone knows it's not sent via the computer.
Sorry I didn't mean that the addresses would be published in this thread (in case anyone thought that)....Each person can contact the member by clicking on their screenname and request the snail mail address.
Those of you that are showing your emails in your post please go edit that post and remove it...just trying to protect you from receiving tons of spam...
The PenPal list could be managed the same as the "mailart" list....where the name above your name is who you penpal with...I think it should be for atleast 2 months at a time..
Then whoever is managing the list will scramble the names after 2 months and everyone would be sending to a different person..This way no one is left out.
Hope this makes sense...if you've been on the mailart then you know what I'm talking about..if not, I'll explain it again.
Zan, what do you think?? You've started the list of names so maybe you want to make up the list for everyone to have a copy of??

waiting,waiting… (tapping fingers on the desk) what does everyone think of the scrambled list? And should we keep the same penpal? For how long? I proposed at least 2 months at a time...it would be like just getting to know someone and then changing midstream if it was any less of a time...anyway, only my thought here so please give us your imput and then we'll move forward.
I think of how the pen pals lasted from watching old movies and such....it was ongoing over a long period.

I was thinking that if a lot of us are in on this one, we might want to consider breaking the big number up into smaller groups so it's not too intimidating or time consuming. Just a suggestion. I'm still in no matter what!

| Well.. I would rather keep my penpal longer instead of just stopping and writing to a new one. I guess I could just keep writing to the old one too if they still wanted to as well. So either way for me. |

| I do like the idea of keeping our penpals longer. Should I start an address forward to one of your emails and we can each forward a different person our address? If someone doesn't receive an address thru email, they can post on this forum that they didn't receive one. That way we will know who needs a pen pal. It may not be super organized for now, but once we all are matched up, then any one new can be matched up with other new ones wanting pen-pals. |
