What a beautiful porch, Sheryl-lyn.....no wonder you've sewn so many quilt tops....the porch is inspiring!! Can I come sit on your swing?? We could just have a wonderful chat! How far north into NY is Calverton??? I could be there in say........3 or more hours depending how far north of the PA border!!!

Keep Smiling.....Bev

Glad you like my porch. I had my granpa make me a porch swing as a Christmas present when I was first married as a girl of 20 (first marriage--my husband died at 33 from cancer). We were living in a crappy rat infested trailer and he said "Why do you need a porch swing? You'll never have a house with a porch." He made it anyway and I would not buy a house without a porch (which was hard in the 1980s). The house was built in 1931 and of course the porch sold me on it! I do love being out there for hours. I sew there and talk with friends there.

Thanks for visiting!

Bev, I am about 3 hours from PA border. I live on the eastern end of Long Island in farm country even though I do not have a farm. My property is not too big actually (less than an acre).

Jess: Notice I did NOT show you the INSIDE of the house! LOL

Fantastic porches!I'm a new member, so I don't know exactly how to post pics but I wanted to tell you all how much I'm enjoying yours!!I have count 'em 5 porches- if you count decks around the place.
One in the front & back, and 3 decks in different areas of the back for different times of day. No- not rich- just luziana drenched in heat & humidity-gotta have an outdoor spot!

what's on my front porch? my husband, country!
our little cabin has a big screened in porch and he has turned it into his sleeping porch. he has a double bed out there and has slept out there every night for several years now. i think the lowest temp has been 8 degrees, and of course in august it can get over 100.
i have a girly girl bedroom in the house. i cant explain it. i have slept out there and it is quite nice but i am afraid at this point in my life i want my ac and heater. i love my dh, but i LLLOOOOVEEE my ac and heater..
we also have a outside shower, (we do have indoor plumbing).
so sometimes this fellar in my life doesnt have to come in the house for weeks if he doesnt want to!!!!!

I'm sorry about your first husband, Sheryl-lyn, but I love that story about having your Grandfather build a porch swing. It seemed to have given you the inspiration to find your home with a front porch. Very nice!

Fran, that'a a nice set up for your hubby...he has the best of both worlds. He can be 'outside' but not have to go far for the comforts of inside! lol

What nice porches. I don't know how to post a picture here on the forum but you can pull up www.2lmzfarms.blogspot.com and see a picture of my porch. It has a amish swing, one white rocker that was my grandfathers,(my hubby redone it for me for my birthday) another rocker, a glider, another swing, and it continues on around my house. I have a wrap around porch. I also have ferns hanging. I usually have more potted flowers but didn't get around to doing any this year.

That is some porch, Laura!! I would love one that big!

Fran: Your husband has the life, huh? So do you! You both get what you want and you are still in the same house. Gotta love it!

Nothing yet! ;) But soon! I want a swing, possibly a rocker, some old antique items and welcome signs. I usually try to change mine with the seasons.

I think I have small pics of 3 of the porches/patios. Different seasons call for different porches-especially in Louisiana! Ya can't go near the woods at evening if it's been damp-skeeterswill carry ya clear to Texas! Early summer finds me on the "fountain deck" for a little color on my skin. Early morning and rainy weather finds me on the back(west)Or front(east) -depending on the direction of the wind.
The Woodland retreat-

Two fountains and sun loving plants on the sun deck-

Both front & back of house have porches the full length-(just repainted, no trim on the windows yet)

I love this bike at the entrance of the front porch-

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

My dream is to have a screened in porch that I can sit out in the evening. The mosquitos are horrible here. I keep hoping and I keep praying. I even have a picture of one sitting under my Baby Jesus. Figured it couldn't hurt.

Remember me as a rose.
