News and more news! Our oldest son, Sam, is here this week from Japan with his new wife, Natsue (married March 22). They’re an adorable couple. I’ll post photos from all the upcoming wedding festivities that we have planned for them before they go back home to Japan. They came to the states for Meg and Emil’s weddings, now it’s their turn for a celebration!
My new book, MaryJane’s Stitching Room, is out officially today. What is now a 144-page book was at one point a 288-page book! Our publisher decided to turn it into a smaller workbook, which resulted in quite a bit of content that we’ve been trying to find a home for.
One of the sections they cut included about 40 photos of pinkeepers we made here at the farm. We had spent about a month more than a year ago with our creative juices turned on full blast. It was a total blast, really, so we decided to share the experience. (During that time, we dreamed pinkeepers, we talked pinkeepers, we saw signature pinkeepers in every bowl, every shoe, every hat … pert near everything, even chicken feeders!)
But before we show you ours (to be featured in a 2008 issue of our magazine), we thought we’d ask you if we could see yours first???!!!! Hence, a contest!
Then, we’ll pick a couple of winners: one for best of show and one from the farmgirl chapter with the most entries. Our PINKEEPER WINNERS get me and mine (Meggie, Luke, and baby) for a visit, actually a crafting visit in your hometown. For more details on how the contest works and how to join in on the fun for strutting your own stuff(ing), check out:

I saw this posted down in "The Stitching and Crafting Room" as well! What a fabulous prize! And all of our "practice" pin keepers could become birthday and Christmas gifts for our friends and family. :) I can't wait to see what wonderful ideas people come up with!

Congrats to your son on his new marriage. Looking forward to the wedding celebration photos!! Oh, and I am hard at work drawing up plans for the winningest pinkeeper! LOL....we Virginia Farmgirls want MJ, Meggie, Luke and baby here in Ole' Virginee for a fabulous crafting session!!! Oh, and Alee, love the idea of using practice pinkeepers as gifts. Perhaps when all is said and done we can do some pinkeeper swapping? Hmmm?????? hint, hint.
Love and blessings and lots of farmgirl hugs!!!

What a wonderful idea! I think a pinkeeper swap would be a perfect idea after the contest is over!

Thought I would post over here as well....Well wont this be fun!!!??? I just spoke for an new chapter kit yesterday! I have had two people in the past two days contact me and go - WE HAVE TO GET ROLLING WITH OUR CHAPTER!!! A farmgirl's green market I am involved in has a great new kitchen for us to meet in. I will be teaching some classes and could NOT be more excited! I think pin keepers will be our first project for our sewing class for Future Farmgirls (two groups ages 8-10 and 11-up)! I will also be teaching basic hand sewing to young farmgirls (5-7) and their moms. This will be so great!!! Wow what timing!!! Can you hear me squealing???!!!!

I went out today to find a few cute little items to make into pinkeeps. There are quite a few lovely shops here in Cincinnati that have been the source of what will be a nice collection of them. Are we to take pictures and post them or send them to the farm? (the pictures.) I cannot wait to get home and start creating!

You said it Rose! I already know what I'm going to make. Boy did this stir up a lot of excitement or what?! I can hardly sit still here. I'm starting it right after I get home from work!

Yes sunshine, I am wondering the same thing....do they have to have some kind of keeper under the actual cushion part?
