I decided we needed a separate thread to discuss
our treadles, and it's all the 4 Musketheads's fault:
Jessica,Bev, Elizabeth & Georgann
They spread the Treadle Affliction and there doesn't appear
to be a cure yet, and I'm not searching for one either! LOL

UPDATE:

I learned to sew in 4H on a treadle sewing machine. My first project was an ugly purple apron. My grandmother made all her children's clothes and quilts on a treadle. Even though later she purchased an electric sewing machine to make clothes, she always made quilts on her treadle.

They are all so pretty . I have to be careful or the "treadle bug " will bite me. Cause -i have this one empty bedroom with nothing at all in it but a tiny table and a lamp. I may watch the craigs list around here . They are popular with several people i have met here that sew leather on them.

LIfe is a witch ~~~ and then ya fly !! Items i look for in a barter .http://tribalwitch.blogspot.com/ http://people.tribe.net/0ab53fca-f8de-4477-ab56-85ff9484b93d

Great thread. Bonne I hope those attachments will fit your machine. I'm pretty sure they will since you have that screw thread on your machine. My 1936 electrified one has the same foot attachment. I have been eyeing my electrified one to see if I can convert it to a treadle. There is a beautiful cabinet and base on our Craigslist for $75!

Otherwise they are just too expensive in this area. I turned down that $100 Sphynx Singer last week and it is now sold...she emailed me that it was gone. It was nice, but the cabinet was falling apart and there was a horrible clunk and catch with each turn of the flywheel.

My Singer is still in Illinois........Jess, I'm hoping my brother who hauls movie horses will be able to throw it on one of his trucks between now and Apronstock 2008, but if he can't, I'm sure greatful to you for offering to bring it!!!

Later all,
G

Maybe I shouldn't say this, but there is a treadle on ebay for leather and shoes! LOL

It is in NE Ohio!

If I lived in that area, I'd snap this one up!!

A while back I posted my story about how I sold my husbands late grandmothers perfect condition Single treadle sewing machine. It was 2001 and we were moving to the coast and wanted to lighten up. Big mistake. Anyway I have tried to track it down with no luck. Just today I bought one over the phone from a couple back home (75miles) who have a shop that sells used furniture and household items that come from estates or people who have moved into nursing homes and need to empty their houses. He doesn't think that the treadles are a big deal and sold me one for $100.00. It is in good shape and still works! I am so thrilled. Have checked on e-bay but couldn't locate one locally. He has several and picked out the best one for me and I will pick it up this week. Will let you know more about it when I get my hands on it.
What's this I see about an Apronfest 2008? Is this for real? Please, please, tell me about it! Thanks a bunch. Tracy

Good find! I was the same way. I don't know how many times
I walked past my MIL's treadle and never even thought to give
it a good look.

I've only heard of the Lotus and Sphinx models with the Egyptian theme.
What others are there? such as this one: http://denver.craigslist.org/fur/414559440.html They describe scarabs and
looks like Isis in there too.
