I am having trouble checking out while trying to buy a sisterhood membership - I sent an email a couple of days ago to that address I always see for help, something like brianogle@???. Anyhow, I haven't heard back. Is there another contact I should use?
The shopping cart is charging me $10 at least for shipping on a membership. This can't be right, as I saw there was a small postage fee for the packet, but it was less than $2. What am I doing wrong?

Howdy Georgiaberry!
Thanks for the email, I was working my way down the list to get to yours. My inbox gets quite a few messages that I have to respond to. I was about to reply to yours when I saw that you posted. I figured this would be a good spot to answer your question.
Our online store is connected directly to UPS and all of the shipping estimates are made through them. For items that can fit in an envelope (Sisterhood Packet) we almost always send them out via the good ol' United States Post Office for significantly less than UPS. No customer's card is charged until we have the order packed up and ready to ship. It is at this time that we manually adjust the shipping method and rates accordingly. If you were to sign up for the Farmgirl Sisterhood (without any other items) the Sisterhood would be $20 and the shipping would be $1.22. I have to manually make the change.
If you would prefer to make an order over the phone feel free to give me a call. The phone number for the farm is 888-750-6004 and I am in the office between 9 and 5 Pacific time. If no one answers please leave a message and I'll call you back as soon as I can.
If you have any more questions feel free to call or email.
Thanks,
~Brian |

Oh well thats good news for me to I thought I would have to ask for the memebership money plus the 10 for shipping. Brian Im so glad you posted here so more will know that its not the $10 that comes up during checkout. Blessings,Karen

Thank you, too, Karen, because I was wondering if I was the only one who couldn't figure out what that was all about! I feel better now ;)

The artificially inflated shipping estimates show up when you order other small items from out store too. Patterns and Chill Over give scary estimates sometimes.
Be thankful you live in the continental U.S., when folks from AK, HI and Canada order they get pretty scary shipping estimates for everything. We can usually cut more than half the cost by using USPS. :)
If anyone else has questions feel free to call or email.

Fantastic! I just signed up (finally!) and I had the same question about the $10 charge. You may want to mention that on the web site page that has info on the membership. Where it says that shipping will be $1.22, you could add in parentheses that on the order page, it will artificially charge $10. That would clear up confusion for those ordering. Thanks and can't wait to receive my packet. Pam
