tracy would you do me the favor of explaining that type of felting ( the one with your pumpkins)the needle felting I know of has evil pins that you never want to get stuck in you ( ihave those needles). Is this the same type or differnt. I have about a 80 pound box of wool scraps from when I made my wool rugs. I mean scraps ( less than 1 inch in any direction) From mittering the ends. I have been trying to figure out what to do with them for 3 years. I never wanted to through them out and wondering if there is a way to turn felt wool back into pulp to refelt any one know or can help as this box is only growing and is already 2 feet wide two feet tall and 3 feet long. I really need to figure out a way to use all those up.
thanks Sunshine

Hi Sunshine,

yes, this is the very same needle felting with those scary barbed needles. I love it though. I did wet felt a ball before I started making the pumpkin, that made it soooo much easier for me. I love a quick craft sometimes. As far as I know, when wool is fulled or felted, it cannot be made back into pulp (unless you wanted to put it in a blender and see what happens. ya never know what you can do ;),LOL. You can, however, needlefelt already fulled wool onto each other. Maybe play around with it and see what you can come up with. Or start googling neetle felting and get some inspiration. There are TONS of sites out there with excellent info. I have only been needle-felting for less than a year, so I am still a relative beginner but I just love playing with the roving. I would love to feel all the scraps in your box, LOL. I am almost jealous that you have that!!

If you come up with some ideas, I would love to hear about them

If any one can come up with ideas for what I can use this for. I thought there was a way to revert wool cut and put in blender or something and sort of make a short length roving for needle felting I have also thought of stuffing for dolls any other ideas. I thought about penny rugs but think it is just to small for that.

Hey sunshine,
I use those kinds of scraps to stuff dolls. Wool scraps are especially nice! It gives the doll a nice heavy old fashion feel and weight. Very authentic! You will find that many old dolls are stuffed with rags or scraps. You may have to snip the scraps up a bit more before you use them, but that sounds like a job for your little helpers! :)

I don't think i need that many pincushions I already have one I made out of velvet that is stuffed with wool and a few from frannie. Maybe I'll make some to sell that might work.

I just can't picture what the scraps look like so I am not coming up with anything. I also stuff everything with wool and agree with Rhonda about the feel and weight. Just such a warmth comes from wool.

Can you post a picture of your scraps?
