If you lok at the top right of the message board you will see "home" "profile" "Register" "Active Topics" "members" "search" and "FAQ"
Use the "search" link to search for laundry soap and there you will find some great recipies that have already been posted. I belive Aunt Jenny put one up. You will need Fels-Namptha soap, Borax, and Washing Soda.
This recipie is amazing and I have been using it for the last 2 weeks. :)
Ciao

Could someone please relist Aunt Jenny's laundry soap recipe? What I find thru 'search' is 1/3 bar Fels Naptha and the 'same amount' of borax and soda? But that doesn't compute for me -- what is the referent in same amount? Same amount as previous posting's recipe? Or measure the Fels Naptha after it is shaved up and use same amount as that measurement? Please help us newbies and relist the recipe all in one place!! Thanks. |

Also You should heat the Fels Namptha soap to just about boiling- until completely disolved. I used about 6 cups of water to do this. Put this in the bottom of a largish bucket. Add the 1/3 cup borax and 1/3c Washing soad. Stir well. then add water to make just under a gallon. I like to heat the borax and the washing soda with the Namptha soap with a bit more water on the stove just to make sure everything is disolved. When only making a gallon out of this recipe- use 1/2 cup per load of dirty clothes or you can divide and make about 2 gallons. Either way. |

Some can find it in Walmart or home stores. I can't find it anywhere here so I have to order it online when I get it. I go to www.soapsgonebuy.com . |

I have a question about the homemade powdered detergent. Actually a couple of questions: do you think it fades your clothes? And is it good at getting out grease? Thanks!

What a great post this is - - I just saw it. I'm going to try my hand at this. I have a question though - - what about using essential oil to give the detergent a scent? |

I make a recipe very similar. 4 cups of soda (I use baking soda, I looked it up and it is the same as the washing soda. I could not find washing soda anywhere in my area) 3 cups Borax 1 Bar 4-5oz of homemade castile soap shredded 1/2 Tablespoon of EO ( I like lemon, or Lavender for bedding & towels)
I think it works much better than store boughten |

Thanks for in the input. I was afraid essential oil would stain the clothes. Can't wait to try this! |
