Anyway you want to make it I like sandwiches. My all time favorite is a good hearty bread with cheese, tomato, and mayo. In season I like to add a leaf or two of fresh basil. I also prefer a fold-over to two pieces of bread.

Soon it will be summer and during our hot months I eat a lot of sandwiches. I'm looking for new sandwiches to try this year. I like my cheese & tomato and chicken salad sandwiches but I do get tired of the same old same old. If you have a favorite sandwich please share with us how you make it.

So many sandwiches! They all sound amazing!

For summertime sandwiches I love a peanut butter on fresh homemade bread topped with sliced fruit in season. Strawberry is at the top of the list, but peach and fresh apricots sliced are close behind. They beat jelly hands down!

While under the Stay at Home order in my state I have found myself with lots of time, so I have been doing some sourdough baking, now my favorite sandwich is sourdough bread with a fried egg and bacon. So yummy. Also love putting a slice of sourdough in the bacon fat and sprinkling with a little sugar. My grandma did this when I was little and I always loved it.

Julie your sandwich sounds delish.

I made the potted ham with radishes and it's very good. To make just one sandwich I used 2 radishes that I grated on box grater.

I love a good sandwich. My favorite is a fried egg, deli ham and cheese on an everything bagel thin.

My Victory Cookbook War Time Edition 1944 has a whole section on sandwiches. I may try this one.

Radish & Ham Sandwiches

1/2 cup potted ham
1/4 to 1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 sliced radishes

Peel & slice radishes, dip them in rich, thick mayonnaise, and lay on thin slices of bread covered with potted ham.

Out of same book recipe for potted ham.

1 cup minced cooked ham
Cayenne
Dash powdered mace
Mustard

Pound ham in mortar, and season with cayenne, mace, and mustard. Place in baking dish and bake in moderate oven (350) 1/2 hour. Pack into pots or little stone jars and cover with paraffin and paper. Use for sandwiches.

You can forget about me pounding ham in mortar - that's what food processors are for. When I first saw potted meat I instantly thought those of little blue cans so I was happy to learn they made their own. Doesn't say how long the potted ham will keep. When I make it I'll us 8 oz mason jars and keep in fridge.

Deb I like deviled egg sandwiches too.

I like a fresh tomato but I no longer can eat them or most raw veg & fruit. I just finished a cheese sandwich on sour dough bread with stewed tomatoes straight from the can. Not as good as fresh but it's a close second.

So many great ideas! We just bought some deli ham yesterday and it's almost gone. I guess we all were craving ham sandwiches.

I like to make a big batch of either chicken salad or a deviled egg salad to keep on hand in the summer months. It's a nice quick lunch. My teen likes to use the salads as a dip with crackers for her lunch.

And now I want a BLT really bad. Can't wait for tomato season. Those make the best sandwiches.

Gail thanks for reminding me of Spam - I keep it in my pantry. I like my Spam sliced thin and fried but will eat it sliced right out of the can on a sandwich of bread & yellow mustard. I buy fancy mustards but always come back to the plain old yellow kind.

I love fried egg sandwiches. Nothing fancy, two fried eggs with salt and pepper, yolks could be a little runny, buttered bread. I love how the warm eggs melt the butter and the butter soaks into the bread, yum! Being a Minnesotan I also like Spam. Best Spam sandwich is an open face, I pulse the Spam in a food processor with some onion and dill pickle. Mix that with some mayo or miracle whip, spread on half of an English muffin or bun half, top with some shredded cheese, put under broiler until cheese is melted.

Oh my, so many wonderful sandwiches, thanks each of you for your sandwich recipe. I'm going to go through each again and put on next weeks shopping list. What's so great about your sandwiches is they share some of the same ingredients.

As many of you know I have MS and so does my niece. Her doctor told her since heat affects her negatively she should only eat room temperature or cold foods in the summertime. I was told by my doctor to never leave my house without something cold to drink. By June each year I have switched my morning hot tea to iced tea. Not eating hot foods in the summer helps me to make it through the heat. Like I need a reason to eat sandwiches.

Hands down,, a BLT & A... Bacon, lettuce tomato and avocado! (2nd would be a Club sammie)...
I think mostly because it brings back wonderful memories and makes me happy,,

When dad was stationed in Ft Riley, KS, mom would load my sister and me up in the VW wagon and drive over to Manhatten KS., for shopping and then we would have lunch at the counter in Woolworths.... The BLT would be my go-to sammie.. but once in awhile,, I would request a 'Club' sammie,, I love'd how the sammie would be cut into 4 pieces, diagonally.
Ahh,,, now I am craving a sammie...

Well Sara I have to admit my favorite is peanut butter and jelly and then tomato and cheese. I love peanut butter and pickles the best of all though---so good. I had to give up the jelly as I have diabetes. Also peanut butter and banana. Peanut butter all the way with me.

Ok so I have a lot of food allergy issues and first of all I'd give ANYTHING to be able to eat a sourdough bread turkey sandwhich with all the veggies and Italian dressing! But I just cant anymore so I learned new ways. Like baking sweet potatoes and slicing them, the roasting them. I can either put avocado and feta sprinkled lightly with seasoned salt or I spread a tad of marmalade on them. Those are my go to sammich now.

Breakfast most days is toasted Ezekial bread with mayo and a thin spread of sugar free jam and sliced turkey. Sometimes deviled egg with lots of sweet pickle relish.

I have a couple of sandwiches that I like but I would say a bacon, tomato, and mayo is a top one along with a turkey, cheese, bacon, avocado, and mayo one. Sandwiches are definitely all about spring and summer. Just talking about all this yummy food is making me hungry! Lol

I love veggie and fruit sandwiches using ingredients like tomaoto, cucumbers, fresh basil and cheese and apple. There are so many wonderful cheeses to choose from and wholegrain breads. Left over turkey with cranberry sauce is also a favorite too.

Hands down cucumber and cream cheese on rye bread.

I mix one packet of Italian dressing mix with one tub of cream cheese for the spread, slice cucumber sorta thin. Put all together and enjoy. Yum!

Your sandwiches sound wonderful Sara! My favorite sandwich is a toasted English muffin (open face) with mayo and mustard, cheese, dill pickle slices and tomato slices...yum. During the summer I love eating tomatoes raw straight off the vine still warm, also cut up tomatoes in chunks with cottage cheese. Needless to say, tomatoes are my favorite vegetable which is why I have 18 tomato plants in my small yard this year, albeit they are only about 9-12 inches tall right now, but I am looking forward to picking and eating those wonderful fruits.
