Are any of you about ready to read Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix? It's the next book in the series that I need to read. I was wondering if any of you were ready to read it and would like to have a mini book club with me. I enjoy reading books with others. It helps me keep up and finish the book in a timely manner. Plus I enjoy chatting about the book along the way.

You can still rock the HP stuff! Go with what you like. The Percy Jackson books are on my list to read. I enjoyed the movies and thought they would be some good books to read. But I agree with your girls as far as other movies and books. I read all the twilight books before the movies came out and I hated the movies. So I decided that if you watch the movie before the books then you will enjoy the books because you learn more. Where as if you read the books first then you dislike the movies because they leave so much out and cut corners. 3 books? How do you keep track of what you are reading?

Lol, at the sweats/socks. I wasn't into HP when my oldest daughter was and now I am like DANG IT...I totally missed an opportunity to rock out some HP stuff back then and take the kids to the movie theater! Then she was into Percy Jackson and that's not my thing. But both my girls said the movie version is terrible and totally NOT like the books. I wonder why they do that??? Anyway, yes, I need to get back into reading them! I am in the middle of 3 books right now, so I will have to wait. Ha!

Amanda, not at all! I love the movies and I am a huge Harry Potter fan. In fact I am wearing Harry Potter sweats and socks right now! But I am just barely getting around to reading the books I read books 1 thru 4 while I was pregnant with my 3rd child and haven't jumped on the 5th book yet and she will be 2 in April. So it's definitely time I break the rest of the books out and read them. There is always time for you to read the rest!

Love HP, but only read the first book! Isn't that awful? LOL. We own all of the movies. My girls have read the series multiple times. :)

Thank you Dawn! I really enjoyed the first 4 and I'm excited to get started on the 5th. I have book one and two in the illustrated editions and enjoyed them very much. I want to get the rest in the illustrated too.

Carole, I would love to have you join! Hopefully someone is ready to read it! I agree with you about the movies though. I love to watch one thru four, but don't care much for the rest. I do watch them and own them as well but prefer to watch the earlier ones. The Goblet of Fire is my favorite one. My oldest loves the Chamber of Secrets.

Denise, I would also love to have you chat with us when you finish each of your books!

I have the books but haven't gotten through the first yet so wouldn't be ready for discussion on it. I have seen the movies. Grandkids have read the books and seen all the movies but that last two.

As for the movies, by the fourth ... The Goblet of Fire, I had lost interest. They are great movies and I do own all of them but I enjoy the books better. I certainly understand the need to keep a movie a reasonable length, but there are so many details in her books. Like it bugged me to no end why they even bothered to introduced Rita Skeeter. They left so much detail out. In my humble opinion, they should have just left her out and included other elements from the book. Her role was so minimal and yet in the book she has a huge role. Oh well, still an amazing series!

Enjoy the book Krista. I had read the series years ago. My husband, who hasn't time for reading at home got the audio version of the entire series from our library and loved it. He was amazed how much more went on in the books compared to the movies.
