In the organic relm we forget to remind people of prevention and protection to our homes. Surrounding your house with the peppermint oil can keep alot of pests and rodents away! Reapply as needed after heavy rain or monthly.

Rosemary is also good to keep lice from those little heads. There is a spray with it put out for just this purpose. I'm sure there is a recipe maybe on Pinterest for making it at home.

I love the recycling of old tires! Good job

I sunk an old tire in the ground and planted the mint in it to keep it from growing all over the yard.

Tchr66 - Terri yes mint will help but is an invasive grower so beside to contain it with a hoarder or in planters. Or love it and let it go all over! Lol! I'm back in the cabin for the summer! Yay! Irish Spring soap seemed to work it's magic in chunks placed around the corners and no settlers for the winter! Amazing!Time to clean the house and get the summer on!

Thank you Vicki, I am going to try some of these. Do you think planting more mint will help rid me of some of my ants?

Thanks Vicki for posting the chart. I grow some of the herbs plus penny-royal which is in the mint family and insect repellent.

Bleach one part to ten parts water is a disinfectant that the WHO says will kill the virus. Make a cookies sheet for by the door and walk through the disinfectant to the shower curtain and chair to take off your shoes before going through the house. Wipe down hard surfaces plastic and stainless steel especially. Lysol sprayed on and left for a few minutes to kill virus is also effective. Gloves are a must for getting gas and groceries! Throw them away outside of car. Wear a pretty Bandana like a cowboy would to help cut down on anything in the air. Be safe laies! Wash your hands and wipe down regularly!

Ants completely gone! Happy for now. Did you know that vinegar actually eliminate any odors around the house? Put small amount on cotton ball and put in areas that need to be done. Won't be able to smell odors and will dry out and not smell the vinegar. Cleaning with it will also kill mildew and mold spores! Have a great morning also!

Well I'm in Florida for the winter and the ants are bad! I've resorted to using liquid poisoning brand name TERRO. It's great for black ants of all sizes. The red ant that stings isn't a fan and through trial and error the only thing working is double bagging in zipplocks and spraying the corners and crevices with garlicky vinegar! They are ruthless and will cut into a bag of any sent for the products inside! Crazy for wheat and oats but aren't interested in grains and gluten free items? Go figure! Suckers bite! Got into Qtips and linens!

I have never tried cedar oil before. I'll have to try it. Does anyone know an organic fruit tree spray? I need to get my trees sprayed but don't want to use chemicals on them

Peppermint is an oil and sticks to rodents burning thier moths when they go to get clean. It with block sent paths of ants and stick to but might not bother spiders. You can spritz your inside and outside of the house without worry. Small animals dont like it and if it got in the eyes it might burn. Spiders like dark places and are hunters so a clean well lit area isn't going to attract them. Spiders are harder because they usually set up a home and stay hidden except to hunt. Try not to get worked up over them they do a good job of pest killing.

Wow! Lots of info. I am curious as to how the peppermint works. Do I just spray it outside around the house? Does it work for spiders? I have a phobia about spiders. What about ticks?

I was driving in wet condition today and wondered if you all knew to not use your cruise control in the rain? The wheels slip on wet pavement easier when they are on cruise control. Be safe travel well.
