Welcome to my world!
Yep, we woke to a lite snow that continued all day and is still ever so lightly snowing this evening...

earlier today..

I thought I had a day or two before the snow.. My Bad!

I thought I could put some of my pots out of the way,, Wrong!

Now for the big question,,, will it still be here tomorrow morning?,, more?,, or melted away???

Oh and Debbie L., don't let this scare you away from Washington..
Actually, the last time it snowed in September (in Spokane) was 1926...

Wow, snow in September. As you can see I am a bit late getting to this thread but Grace your roses are beautiful and I'm so glad you saved them.
We are having chilly days but this year our October has had more rain days than usual. I can't complain as I know we need it. We don't get all the snow lots of you gals get. We are lucky if we get flurries on Christmas but then come January, February and March we have been know to get snow dumped on us and it last a few days and then nothing for a while and then again a few weeks later. I always hope for snow for Christmas but so far no luck. Being from upstate NY where we had snow on Halloween and definitely a lot on the ground by Thanksgiving I sure miss those kinds of winters. However, I do get to go out more we just have to bundle up due to really cold temps here. That's when I like to hunker down in front of the stove with my continual cup of whatever is hot!

Not me either -- always wait until the first frost warning. I have orchids that have to be moved before it gets below 40 and some others that can't take below 28. It's always a mad dash to find places for them as whatever flat places they were on last year is always filled up with something so it means I have to move a lot of stuff before I can move the plants. And it always happens when DH is off on his 6-week hunting trip so I have no help.

Grace---I piddled around and left all my plants out too---then we got a frost warning yesterday and I had to get them all in. I had to clean up my enclosed back porch and that was bad enough. Then I had to get all the house plants in and I have a lot. When my husband got home he couldn't get to the phone to make a call and he wasn't happy with the mess. No nap for me that day---I worked until dark and finally got done---I was so tired I could barely walk to feed the animals---my husband cooked the supper for me. I hope this has taught me a lesson for next year, but I doubt it as I am a hard study.

Debbie, I agree with you! That's the best time for snow. Any earlier is sucky and by February I'm over it and ready for spring lol! I do remember for many years as a kid getting snow before Halloween and going trick or treating in the snow. It was so cold. I'm glad that hasn't happened for my kids yet.

Grace, I can't believe you have snow already. Did you get a fall at all? I love having all four seasons. I like winter, but I love fall and wouldn't want to miss having the joy of this season.

What a beautiful view snow and all. One day I am going to live in the mountains (that's my dream and I am sticking tight to it) Although it is getting chilly in New England, I am not quite ready for snow yet.

Pretty but a early for me, I still want to enjoy fall. But sadly snow will be here sooner than later. It really only like snow for the holidays , November, December and January but then it can go away.

Wow Grace you are getting a preview of the winter to come. I do hope you get some autumn weather first before the snows stick around. Good thing you brought those beautiful roses in. I am looking forward to our cool down after 3 days of a heatwave here in the Chicago area. I long for the good old days when the seasons stayed within their calendar months!

Yeppers,,, we are now in the high 20's to mid 30's at nite.. and right now it is 43degrees at 1pm..
I just came in from feeding the horse some apple off our tree... We still have about 1/3 left on the tree so tomorrow or Wednesday we will pick the rest and cold storage them for the horses. They do luv their apple treats.

My nose is running and my fingers and ears are cold... next time I will put on a jacket and gloves!

This 'snow' was/is not normal for us,, 1926 was the last time it snowed here in the Spokane area.
Ironic,, central Spokane got very little snow.. but the out lying areas like where we are got a ton of snow...
We're the Winner! lolol!

Time to warm up...

Happy last day of Snowtember!

Grace, I am not surprised your rain turned to snow. The temperatures have really dropped here and we had some super cold rain and snow in our mountains. In a quick flash our summer disappeared and turned into winter! lol I would love to have fall first. I hope the snow holds off here for at least one more month.

Wow, Grace, SNOW IN SEPTEMBER! Is that usual for your area? I am glad you could reduce those beautiful roses too. My guess is that they were NOT happy about the snow arrival at all!!

I have no one to blame but myself for dwaddling in my meager garden,,, I procrastinated in digging up the bulbs and transplanting and pruning... and yesterday the snow came..
We woke to a white everywhere and my poor roses where covered, as were my potted plants.. so I bundled up this morning and brought in my pots,, I will let them temper off and tomorrow put them in their 'over winter' storage spot.
I did rescue some of my roses, cut and brought them indoors..

I always joke that the weather peeps can never accuratly predict the weather,,, dang it! for one they were right!

Snow surely doesn't light my fire, but WV is in moderate drought and joining the south in drought. I am busy playing n the sun and cursing the dry weather. But--- I have got to get a move on and get my plants in for winter. If this heat keeps up we will all die and surely it has to rain and frost sometime soon. Enjoy that snow Grace and take a good hot bath---I can only have a shallow bath every two days because of so little water. Sponge baths do get tedious. We either have enough water for an army or very little when it gets dry. Life do get tedious as my old 90 year old friend used to say---and then she would say---but OH the beauty of the world an so few see it. Rock on Ladies,
