On the What's For Dinner? thread Barbara "Holla Girl" mentioned she would like to visit with me. It's always an honor for someone to want to visit with me. So, I propose we have a virtual potluck dinner. I'll start.

Y'all are all welcomed to my kitchen - friends eat in kitchens not dining rooms. I'll set the table with a red & white check oil cloth tablecloth and festive paper plates & napkins because this FarmGirl isn't going to do the dishes or laundry cloth napkins. The iced tea - sweet & un-sweet will be on the counter next to styro-foam cups filled with ice.

I'll make a baked pasta casserole with fresh herbs. What will you bring? Somebody has to bring dessert because I'm not a baker.

Here is my Pistachio Fluff fruit salad recipe: 2 cups cottage cheese---32 0z. carton vanilla yogurt---1 pkg. instant pistachio pudding---8 oz. thawed whipped topping---20 oz. can crushed pineapple, drained---110z. can mandarin oranges ,drained-- --1/2 cup maraschino cherries cut in half. Whisk pudding in 2 cups of the yogurt for two minutes. Mix the remaining ingredients in. Even cottage cheese haters like this. I could eat the whole thing myself. If you want you can put the cottage cheese in a blender to make it smooth. I have enjoyed your potluck dinner Sara---such fun. I felt as if I were there. I use sugar free pudding and lite yogurt and whipped topping.

Winnie so happy you will be hosting Nov's feast. May I suggest you start a new thread so everyone will know it's a new one.

I would be honored to host our Farmgirl Virtual Dinner for Thanksgiving!! How about we have dinner at 4pm in the afternoon to give everyone time to get back from church and rest up a bit before the feast? I will roast a big turkey and make the gravy. How about you bring whatever favorite side or dessert that you enjoy making and which is part of your Thanksgiving tradition?

Thank-you Sara for kicking off this idea in October! We had a very fine meal and lovely gathering. Yes, wash up that apron and have it ready for 3 weeks from today!!

Meantime, I will be getting down the old turkey roaster that my Dad always used to cook our family turkey. He always gave my Mom the day off from cooking and made dinner. She made our cranberry salad and pumpkin pies the day before.

Let's get our recipe bites out and lists made for ingredients to get!!

Winnie that's a great idea but I propose a rotating virtual potluck dinner with other FarmGirls hosting in their own kitchens. Would you host the Nov Thanksgiving dinner? Then in Dec another FarmGirl may want to host it.

I've enjoyed hosting Oct's dinner but now it's time for me pass the apron so to speak; and to wash & iron mine to put them away.

Hey, Sara, now that it is November, how about we do another virtual Potluck dinner at your place for the Sunday afternoon before Thanksgiving? Wouldn’t it be fun if we could really have a thankful gathering together to celebrate this month of Giving Thanks? Let us know what you think and then the ideas to get it all started. This first potluck was a blast and the added dishes to the menu were yummy!

I can't let my hair down anymore. It's too short nowadays. But I love it this way.

Denise, keeping warm is as good a excuse for letting our hair down as anything else.

Barbara now you have mentioned it now and then I do miss a phone call and have to call them back unless it's a dreaded "tele-marter".

Lisa a little rowdiness is good for what ails us but I got to admit my frisky at 77 looks a lot different than it did at 40.

The party is starting to get rowdy!!! LOL!
Barbara, Josh and Brent are special folks for sure. They went out of their way to make sure to talk to each of us and were so interested in our lives. When we went horseback riding on the mountains/volcanos, Josh was in front of me and kept asking me "How ya doin Buckaroo?" So sweet. And he kept grabbing my camera and taking pics of us. I know they look nice, but they really ARE NICE!
I've ordered several extra pounds of bacon, and some nice Belgian chocolate for my bacon wrapped chocolate almonds. LOL. Should be a good time!

Lisa---I love the Beekman boys---used to watch their show and read a book one of them wrote---beautiful people for sure. Sara---my husband is on vacation and soon as he is back to work I will find that recipe---should I just bring a case of wine and be sure there is enough---LOL---and rock on ladies!

Grace I haven't had a glass of Riesling in years so looking forward to it. Looks like there's going to be a houseful of FarmGirls- might ought to bring in a couple of chairs and more apron from my Yellow Rose Cottage.

Y'all Come! Like the old folks use to say "if any more show up we'll have to hang them from the rafters".

OK Judith, I have an addition. Almonds dipped in melted chocolate topped with bacon bits. I'll get a few more pounds of bacon just in case.
Iceland was gorgeous, and the tour was super physical, but so worth it.
YellowRose Posted - Oct 25 2019 : 4:49:03 PM
Lisa, my friend, so happy you are coming and please double wrap the bacon on the chicken livers. Can't have too much bacon. So happy you enjoyed your trip to Iceland.

Judith, bacon dipped in chocolate, you may be on to something.

I'm late to the party! We were in Iceland for a Trip of the Lifetime with Josh and Brent aka Beekman Boys. SO FUN and they were so sweet and welcoming. Anyway, Sara, what a good idea, and I'm with the other gals, I wish it were in person. Farmgirls know how to put on a party that's for sure!
My contribution will be bacon wrapped shrimp, bacon wrapped water chestnuts, and bacon wrapped chicken livers and water chestnuts (rumaki), for those of us that like livers (yes, me!).
And a selection of some cold beers. Maybe for an appetizer after the main lunch and before night falls.
Good idea Sara!!!

Nancy, thank you for sharing your recipe. I wrote it down. Grace, the 15 bean soup looks soooooooo good. And I love fruit salad. I am so darn hungry I could eat a hippo. LOL. I think I will wander around and check out the yellow rose cottage. Being with all of you is so much fun.

I have never used an IP. It sounds like it must work pretty good for you girls to like it so well.

Yellow Rose---too bad we can't all really come to your house. It makes me smile to think of it. It would be so nice to meet a special person like you. Rock on and cook and can on. I love to read all that you do.
