We signed papers today. We are proud owners of 4.5 acres in East Texas. It has a 1680ft ranch house, pole barn, green house and lots and lots of trees. The kitchen is twice the size of our old kitchen. 3 bd, 2 bath. The stove is electric but doesn't have the smooth cook, top which I prefer. I love my cast iron.

I didn't mention it before because there were contingency issues with the first buyer. Lucky for us they backed out.

I will post pictures when I can. So Excited. Now moving our stuff for the second time this year. Arph!

We are going to scatter wildflower seed. We did find an ant mound we need to deal with (argh!). Other than that we are letting nature take it from here. Hopefully in a year or two it will look more natural.

We absolutely love it. We only have 4.5 acres but that is enough for us. Before Hubby cut the paths the area wasn't easy to walk. Now I can't wait to get outside each morning.

Your property is like a story book . It is very calming and rejuvenating to be outside away from others, don't you think?

Cheers!!

What a beautiful trail---makes me want to take a stroll on it. I too love to see the deer and wild life. Life in the country is good.

Hi Winnie
One of the coolest things this week was visits by locals, not the two leg kind. Yestetday a deer lingered in our back acreage. Today after I took my morning walk and sat to rest with Hubby on the back porch another deer walked down the path in the same area I just walked and pauaed at our center fence. Good thing for him I don't like to eat deer meat. He scampered away to live another day.

Hi Sisters,
It has been 7mo. since we moved in. Got our first tax bill, ouch. We don't have any stock animals so no ag exemption. It isn't too bad though.

We decided to keep our back acreage natural. Hubby made trails for walking. The total trail is about .6 miles. Here is a picture from this morning's stroll.

Missouri is quite magical, isn't it? I'm from a very small town in central Missouri, and I grew up playing in the woods, and surrounded by beautiful farms. When I was a teen, I couldn't wait to move to the "big city". Now, I just want to go back to the country! I'm still in Missouri, so that's good enough for now.

Thanks everyone. I love vintage and second hand things. I don't feel as bad when new puppies chew them up. I lost two couches and a few pair of shoes. But rest assured the puppies never lost their homes or our love.

Stephanie, I love So. Missouri. My tias (aunties) lived there. I loved catching lightening bugs with my cousins in the summertime when we visited back when I was a youngin. I hope too you find a lovely place.

What a lovely place! I'm so very excited for you! I love the woods around your home. Makes it feel very secluded and cozy, doesn't it? Right now I live in the suburbs of Kansas City, but we are working on finding a place more towards southern Missouri, and I hope it's as lovely as yours!

This dining set is beautiful! How wonderful to have such nice in-laws. And thanks for the holler visit invite---and as Emmy Lou says---if wishes were fast trains to Texas---I'd ride--I'd ride--oh how I'd ride---LOL> Been through Texas in the 70's. I thought it was beautiful. And if you are near WV---as we hillbillies say--Come on down.

Hi Barbara,
We have been spending time with family. First December birthdays then Christmas and now New Years. I am tired.

But look what my pop in law and Momma Kathy bought for us for Christmas!

My FIL and his wife (not Hubby's mom) sends us money every year. Because of the new house they sent a bit more. We bought this on Offer Up. It is vintage but I love the shabby chic. It is strong and fits perfectly in our dining room. Six chairs and a leaf. So, if any of my farmgirl sisters in East Texas or from the Holler and anywhere else ever stop by I have a big table to share. I don't have a couch or sofa yet but I have this big beautiful table.
