Well Fiddle Stix!!!,,, my Feather weight,,, is having an attitude!

I oiled it a few days ago,,, and the today I stitched up another strip quilt,,, then afterwards I took a brush to it to clear out the fibers and dust,, some how I must have done something to the bobbin housing because the bobbin case won't go back in... so I youtubed it and completely disassembled the housing, cleaned it and re assembled it,, and it still won't function,, I disassembled it again,,, 3 times!.. still not working right so I am gonna throw in the towel and take it into the repair shop... it's probably something really simple.. but.. my eyes are not that great and one of the screws is so tiny, I have to use a magnetized jewelers screwdriver..
So I will have a professional look at it,, and it wouldn't hurt to have it serviced as well.
So now I will have to use a modern sewing machine... I luv using my Feather weight for my quilts and aprons and pillowcases...
Oh well... it could be worse I guess... Fiddle Stix!

These old Feather weight (mine is from 1952) are nearly indestructible! and so simply designed.. un like the machines made from the 1970's and newer with plastic parts that don't last...
I have a Singer 401,, and a Rocketter, that I could use,, both are a great machine.. but I would have to clear a bunch of stuff off the Console to get to the Rocketter and the 401 is packed away and I would have to dig it out... that being said,,, maybe I should for future use..
But for now,, I will bring my Feather weight in, next week to be worked on.

Oh bummer Grace. I'm so sorry to hear about your sewing machine. Hopefully they can get it up and running quickly so you can get back to sewing on your favorite machine in no time!

Thanx everyone.. I took it apart a total of 4 times.. wiggling, jiggling and moving parts around,, the Youtube was somewhat helpful.. but no matter it still won't work properly... I know my limitations,,, and would hate to replace saying "fiddle stix" with some less then lady like words...heeheehee!

Thanx Diana for the website,,, I will go check it out.
I think I will take it to 'Harold's Sew & Vac Repair' shop.. I have head good things about them, and they have been around for a very long time here in Spokane, but thank you anyway for the offer.
In the mean time I will use one of my other machines,,, it's just that my Feather weight is my happy go-to machine...oh well...

You MAY just be turning it incorrectly, Grace. That happened to me and with a few trial turns of the casing it went in.

Grace, that happened to me once. There are particular little fiddly things to do when you put it back together. It has to go just so or it won't work. I have the book "Featherweight 221: the Perfect Portable" and the directions are on pages 113 to 115. My sister gave me my book but you can get it on Amazon. It has come in handy a few times when solving featherweight problems.

Hahaha, Grace!!! My Mom used to say the exact same thing when she was sewing and something frustrating happened!! I haven't heard that expression in years and it is a good one to keep in mind!!

https://singer-featherweight.com/ This place is down here by me. But it is the only place I will trust any more.
That being said I will be in Spokane for the quilt show I can meet you and transport it down here.
