Posted - Oct 15 2019 : 6:01:17 PM Uh Oh,,, Heather... is it gonna encourage me to get into more sewing mischief???.. I was good until I saw your pillow cases... lol!
Theresa,, I can't believe I have belonged with SOTF for so long (#472).. it's gotten so large... I prefer small get togethers with the Sisters...and love that it has helped so many women find themselves, challenge themselves and make you sister friends...

Posted - Oct 14 2019 : 5:47:42 PM Grace, your pillowcases are wonderful. What a great way to use up fabric. I use to belong to Sisters on the Fly. They are a great bunch.

not the best photo...
The best part is I am getting some odd piece of fabric in my stash, used up! I have 1 left to make,,, then I will iron and send them off to Tulsa, OK....
Who knows,, maybe I will finally get some more stitching done on the Christmas lap quilt, that I started 2 years ago... maybe in time for Christmas this year!!!????!!!!

Posted - Oct 12 2019 : 3:26:12 PM Thank you Nancy...
I luv making them... I buy solid neutral sheets so I can mix-n-match the cases with the sheets.
I have made quite a few for my 'Sisters on the Fly' gal~pals,, and machine embroidered their SOTCF number on the cuff of their pillow case.. I still have 2 left to stitch up... but today the sun was out so I got caught up on the garden... among other chores..
Now to toss a load into the washer,, and kick back for a bit.
For anyone interested,, the simple math in pillow case making is : 9" Cuff 3" trim 27" base (plus or minus for a standard pillow case.. fold the 9" cuff in half = 4 1/2" and the 3" trim in half = 1 1/2" Since not all fabrics are true, some are 41-42" and others are 42-43", stack the cuff and trim on top of the base, fold in half (left side over to right side)and trim all the way down at the raw edge(salvage) so that you have a clean and matching straight edge. Then you can assemble, sew & voila' cute pillow case. You can also omit the small trim piece, and add ric racking over the seam where the cuff and base meet. Have fun.... >^..^<

Posted - Oct 11 2019 : 08:03:47 AM Grace, I love making pillowcases. It is a great way to use up fabrics from my stash, and I use the Taco and French seams method which hides all the seams and makes them go fast. Nice job!
