Well ladies---I am always holding onto summer and now I just wish it would go away. We are in a drought with temps in the eighties. My spring is very low and barely running---the cistern is barely full and the creek is dried up so we can't pump water from there into the cistern. My precious creek chubs I feed every day are losing their large hole of water and I never thought it could get so dry. I am getting by on very little water and it is not as bad as I thought it would be---I'm coping quite well. I have always felt very sorry for countries with so little clean water and I tell myself how happy they would be just to have as much as I have. It truly humbles you to do without enough water---since I usually have so much it is running over around here and I use it like crazy. So ladies I am with you in your need for fall----summer do get tedious. We went four wheeling at 6: Pm and I wore shorts and a summer top and that just doesn't happen in WV at the end of September.
Ladies---any horror stories of no water to comfort me in my parched condition. I have learned to welcome fall and cool temps in all its glory. Also---the thing that really set me off on a rant was when a wasp was on the door knob and stung me on my way out to close the chickens. As Auntie Acid said on my calendar---yesterday---I have OCD---old, cranky, and dangerous. I can hardly wait for a good hard frost to kill these blasted bugs.

I know that I have said this before but I am so glad to be living where I live. It does seem as if the weather here is shifting too. It is not as dramatic a change as other places are getting. I also believe that there is a climate change happening. People are so negligent of nature and have no second thoughts of destroying it. So sad.
It has dropped to the 40's here, too, at night. We still have not gotten the furnace fired up yet as the days are still comfortable enough.

I am so enjoying our weather this week! 80s in the day and 40s at night. Perfect! Now if it would just last until next march......

I agree that three degrees is better than being hot---especially hot without much water. But then I also hate three degrees---I guess I am just hard to please.

Sherone, here in Florida we haven't gotten out of summer yet! It has been a brutally hot and dry October and temps for us this weekend are 88 everyday. I would trade 3 degrees for endless summer in a blink of an eye!! LOL!!

Talk about abnormal climates. It was 3 degrees here this morning!!! Three degrees on October 11th! I need to be in a nice retirement community in Florida...................

It's sad to see and hear of so much flex and abnormalities in our environmental climates no matter where we seem to live... I surely hope our global communities can come together to save our beautiful mother earth for our future generations! I often worry what this world will be like when my boys start a family of their own and venture out into this world... I just keep praying... meanwhile, hang in there ya'll - winter seems to be working hard in arriving early here on our high desert - I will be happy to blow those winter winds your way!! XO

Anyway we stayed two days at the cabin and got to hear rain on the tin roof---it was heavenly. Our spring and cistern is full---but I am not wasting one drop as it may stay dry. Thank all of you for your replies.

I am happy to announce that we got two and one quarter inches of rain here in the holler. It was heavenly and I rejoiced with the parched earth and I almost thought I heard my creek chubs "singin' in the rain". We stayed two days at the cabin and we got to hear rain on the tin roof---music to our years. The creek is running a little bit again, our cistern is three fourths full and our spring is full. We also caught one hundred gallons at the barn for the donkeys. I am still not wasting a drop---it is good to know where your water comes from and not be spoiled by city water---or so my cousin told me while she was running her faucet full blast. Anyway---I am so relieved for the rain and thank you ladies for your replies. Life is good.

I'm so sorry about the wasp sting. They are incredibly painful and hopefully that is the last one you'll ever get! Here in IL we have not had a shortage of rain, but this is the first year we haven't had a mini or full blown drought during the growing season. Climate change is doing some very strange things and it is getting worse every year. We have a mini heatwave for the start of this week, then we will finally get some real autumn temperatures that will hopefully stick around!

Hopefully we'll all get an early frost to zap the bugs and a good rain for those who are in desperate need of it!

Barbara I too agree with you on global warming.
Winnie you made me laugh with your saying about fall in FL.
Here is my saying about fall in FL. First picture the little girl in the movie Poltergeist in front of the T.V..
"THEIR HERE!"
That is what I say every fall when I see that first out of state license plate.
Not sure about where you live but our population triples, the roads do not, nor do the parking lots, doctors appointments become months out, long check out lines, and don't bother trying to go to the mall early, caused it is filled with everyone getting in their walking and social time. You are a nurse also so you know what I am about to say is true. Steven King could write a really good book by sitting in the license office for an afternoon.

Thank you all for giving me hope! I have just saw in the paper that WV is joining the south 1n drought. My husbands brother lives in Alabama and he had told us of the drought. I agree---the fall and winter has soon got to bring relief. But ---OH how tedious life do get without enough water, Join me in praying for rain for the south. Girls---when I was young WV was cold and wet all summer and slugs freely roamed about. My bell Bottoms were always wet and a sweater was always nearby. Now we have southern temps---go figure. As for myself I believe in global warming.

Barbara, I hear your call for change!! It has been 95+ here the past few days and we haven't really had much rain at all for the past 3 weeks. As a result, we are brown, flowers are wilted, and it feels like July or August. I hope you will get some of that Canadian cold front air soon and refill your well . My personal opinion is that Summer overstayed it's welcome two months ago!!

Connie shared this funny saying a year or two ago and I love it!

We have been having beautiful weather here. In fact, it has been perfect. I've been seeing a lot of snakes and hoping that they will keep the mice away. I, too, hate spiders with a passion. We have a lot of them around here. Yuk!!!!! I can't imagine being in a drought right now or even thinking about getting snow. I think I will just enjoy what I have here. LOL

I hate bugs to Barbara! There is a big Ole sneaky spider in my bathroom hiding at the moment. He was big and I've never seen one with a large body like this. JT didn't get to him fast enough and I head the other way. Yuck.

We are having warm days and haven't had rain for a while. We get a day here or there. Our rains come in November. It's how we know fall has really arrived here. But I'm looking forward to October. It is our most gorgeous month!
I hope those who need the rains will soon get it.

I'll trade with you Grace!!! Like Barbara, we too have been in a drought and yesterday they put us on the extreme danger list so no burning AT ALL! Our temps are in the upper 90's to over 100! I'm zapped, no energy, no desire to keep working outdoors! Barbara, I know your fall is coming soon, and it will be glorious for you!! Hang in there ok??
