Does anyone grow hibiscus and what do you do with it? I have tried a red raspberry, hibiscus hot tea and loved it. I have some of the flowers in the yard buy not sure how to dry them. Do I use the dehydrator or hang them to dry?

Judith it should be quite tasty. I have a recipe for hibiscus and rosehip tea. Most jelly recipes with edible flowers or herbs use apple juice. Any of those recipes should work with hibiscus. If you try it let us know how you like it.

Thanks for the info girls. I have had the tea with the hibiscus and love it. I never tried it with my own flowers before. I have so many of them growing around here that I thought I would throw that question out there. It's a wonder the deer haven't been eating them. We have so many deer out here. I have also heard that people use it in hair conditioner.

I love tea made with hibiscus. In Egypt they called it karkady and in Mexico it is Jamaica. You can buy it dried in Mexican grocery stores. I like it best sweetened.

Can't you eat the flowers in a salad or something like that? I've been growing edible flowers like Nasturtiums and violas and such. Love the Nasturtiums! They've a great flavor and a kick like horse radish!!

I have one, but the deer eat it every year---so I guess I feed deer with it---LOL.
