Sometimes you just need a little support and encouragement from your farm girl sisters to get the ball rolling in the right direction so you can plow through those boring jobs.

I've been trying to organize and clean my 1500 square foot home myself and it just is taking me forever to get motivated and keep going.
I hired a young woman to help me keep up with the regular things I can't do on my own but that is getting to be too expensive.

So, I thought about it and came up with a great idea for how I can do it. One of my friends keeps asking me to help her do the same thing. She says she needs encouragement and support.

If you are in the same boat and would like to join me for my "Monthly Organizing Challenge" for 2019 I'd love to have your support. I will be there cheering you on every step of the way too.

I wrote a blog post for the challenge here:

https://www.marketsofsunshine.com/2018/12/organizing-challenge-for-2019.html#gpluscomments

You can sign-up for my worksheet here: Hero Adventures, to receive free worksheets that help you set your goals and keep track of your progress each month.

https://www.marketsofsunshine.com/p/newsletter-sign-up.html

I'm also going to give out prizes every quarter to those who participate and don't throw in the towel along the way.

Read all the details on my blog. I hope you'll join me.

Post below and let me know what you struggle with the most to keep your house tidy.

Mine is time. I just can't seem to devote enough time every day to cleaning. I do the dishes. Make my meals. Vacuum the floors and after that I'm all done in. I'm trying to see if I can spend at least 15 minutes a day on organizing. I'm going to set a timer when I start a project and see how I do for the rest of this month.

I'll report back to you here and in my newsletter each month.

*******Please Note: I need your permission to send you the pdf printable worksheets. Contact me via email Subject: 2019 Organizing Challenge
Request the printables and I'll send them to you as soon as I get them made.

I did a little bit of organizing in my daughters room and found an old shelf to store her lotion, baby powder, hair bows, and etc. on. The shelf really needs some TLC and I'm hoping to get it painted and get some pictures of her up on the shelf and then I will share my completed picture.

Vicki I'm glad we are motivating you to join in and get your organizing done for the year. It really feels good to see the progress we are making one room at a time.

Krista. I know what you mean about having things left over that you didn't know you had. My dining room table is the place for me to put things and then work on finding a new home for them. I cleared if off today. Now I have about three more boxes of stuff to go through and see what I want to do with it. Sell, keep or donate. I'm finding I can let go of more than I thought I would in the beginning.

I don't want to keep stuff piled up with the idea that "some day" I might need it. If I haven't needed it by now it's out of here.

Great job everyone! Keep up the good work.

Painting the living room/dining room is our May project. One wall has wallpaper to remove. That is going to be a bear. The glue smell bothers my allergies so I'll have to leave the house for a few hours while my DH and son-n-law remove it. Every room looks amazing that has been completed. The fresh wall paint does wonders.

I got the cupboard done! I wish I would have taken a before picture. But I feels so nice to have it organized and accessible.

I started working on another cupboard and found 13 tumblers with straws that I no longer use. Trying to find a new home for them. That will help with clutter!

My project for May is the front hall of the apartment.

As one can see, it tends to be a spot where things collect.

How the heck is April almost over and I haven't accomplished any organization? I do have a small goal for this weekend. My little girl is officially off bottles and my second is weaned off the binky but my corner cupboard is still a mess of both. So I'm hoping to clean it all out and organize what we still need in there. It will be so nice to have that done!

Great job ladies!

Good job on straighten out the closet and finding your chest! What a wonderful donation to be making! The shelves project is very exciting to see come along!

The closet is finished. It doesn't look much different. It is much better organized.

Upper shelf has less stuff and is better organized.

Moved boxes of fabric here. I found two UFOs which will be easy to complete.

Success!

I've been so busy cleaning up and organizing and have really accomplished so much already.

Here is my craft room makeover. Head on over to my blog to see the after photos and story behind the makeover.

https://www.marketsofsunshine.com/2019/04/craft-room-makeover-on-budget_19.html

I've also completed my entryway makeover. I'll be doing a blog post about it next week. So stay tuned.

Let me see your progress. Post here or reply to the last email I sent out. If you aren't signed up for the challenge you can do so at the blog link above.

Don't slow down now. You've come so far and we still have a long way to go to complete the challenge.

Thanks for taking part with me.

My next project is my closet which is set in the hall. The door is blocked from fully opening by a keyboard. That can be fixed.

I have already organized my clothing in order of color so that I can see what I want to make for myself next.

I am most concerned by the floor which I know conceals some easy to finish UFOs. I hope to put some boxes of fabric (potential UFOs) in their place.

Marie I will be mailing out your gift next week.

** I hope everyone is doing well with your February Organizing Challenge **

Let me know how you are doing. I emptied out the hall closet and everything was pilled up on my dining room table. Ugh!

But, I cleared half of it off and only have a small bit left to go. I will have my clean dining room table back once again by the end of the month.

Then, the next task is to move my computer desk and printer out of the living room and into my office/work room space.
It's a 10 x 11 foot room so it's not very big. I will have to rearrange things so that the center of the room is open like I like it to be. I trip over stuff if the floor is not clear. lol

My helper is coming Thursday so she will do all the heavy moving of things for me. Whew! I am so thankful for her help.

I will be taking several big boxes to the local thrift stores for donations. A new store opened near me so now the drive is only 10 minutes instead of 20.

So talk to me and let me know your progress.

Be sure to check out my weekly blog posts with tips and fun motivation for you all.

I think I'll join in too! :) I'm always up for more organizing!!!

I've actually been working on just that in our bedroom this month and really appreciate living without the clutter in that room!!! Setting a timer is a GREAT way to tackle the big jobs that just sit there staring at you.

I also try to use down time - waiting rooms, lines, etc. to just think about the spaces in question. Am I using it efficiently? What do I do in that space? Would it be easier to clean if I stored certain items in that room or closer by? Could I move where certain things live to a different area? Visualizing what I want to do makes it easier for me to jump in.

If I had a really big job to tackle I would have bags, boxes with me - 1 for trash, 1 for donations, 1 for things that belong elsewhere.

I've found that assigning everything a "home" can be the biggest challenge. If it doesn't have a home, it's going to be clutter. In my experience anyway! lol
