Hi everyone!

I grew up on a farm and am a few years away from retiring from a local government job (YAY!). My sister and I plan to buy some acreage and create a small farm in eastern Washington. She is a wonderful hobby gardener and beekeeper who also has some chickens. I do okay with gardening, but I am more interested in farm and fiber animals. I'm looking forward to exploring this forum to connect to other farm girls and glean information.

:)

Hello Barbara, Like you I look forward to retirement to. My Husband & I talk about buying a ranch in Montana some day. In the mean time I like to sew, make homemade jam, and create art with vintage magazine from the 1940 to 1960. Decoupage is my thing.

Thank you all for your warm welcome!

"The Sister Farm" is still in the planning and research stage. We are focusing on northeastern Washington and trying to select a general area before doing a specific property search. Additionally, I am doing research on fiber animals to learn which ones would do best suited to the climate in our target location.

We have four years to plan the farm and position ourselves financially to make a go of it. I do love a challenge! LOL!

Take care and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Welcome, Barbara. I'm from Ohio. My husband and I just moved out to the country last year and I am excited about the prospects with all the room we have. We have 7 dogs and 3 cats. We have rescued most of them and love them like family. I am planning on raising a garden come spring and doing some canning. I am new myself and have a lot to learn about how all of this works but so far it has been a blast.
