I guess Alee (and Nora!) and I started something a while back with sitting out on my porch. No, I don't have one yet, but it is my dream. The porch thing recently got picked back up in my post on needing to be flogged, and several others have since joined us. So, I thought I would offer an invitation to all you farmgirls to come sit and relax on my virtual porch, visit, and just let all your cares and worries slide off your shoulders. Anyone else want to join us? So far, we have Alee and Nora napping in rocking chairs; Melody June is the one who has her feet propped up and listening to Jolie Blond (some GREAT Cajun Music!); Audry brought that tray of the gorgeous cucumber sandwiches; Diane brought sweet tea and vodka; Toni brought apple and cherry pies and is sitting on the porch keeping the dogs down (and we made a pitcher of unsweet tea just for her, but I'll bet she'll share!) Ladies, all are welcome, and there are still plenty of rockers and porch swings left. And I'll bet Toni will move over a bit and let you share her step! Come join us! Hey, Alee! Wanna wake up long enough to get a bite of this cherry pie? Ooh! It is so delicious!

We started a continuation of this thread MaryJane. Too many of us were having trouble getting to it. So we didn't do away with the porch we just scrubbed it up a bit.

Hey Ladies...I am all for starting a New Virtual Porch Thread but it is up to the Home Office. Since they still haven't changed the numbering system...I will contact Brian again and see what he
thinks. It is actually another Woiman who does the work and that maybe the Hold-up. Brian was always faster and on top of it all.

I have no clue about those critters ya'll are talking about...other than Carpenter Bees...those I know!! It is funny how different areas of the Country have such different pests to contend with.

It has been one of those cloudy and sunny days. Just wait 5 minutes and it changes to one or the other. But it is comfortably warm out.

Has anyone else had problems sleeping lately??? I may have figured it out. I went off a Thyroid Supplement I have been using for about a year. I didn't think it was doing much good
but that just might be the culprit for the sleep issue. I know also that I sleep better when I walk! But with this wishy-washy weather that hasn't been happening every day. Probably
just 3-4 times a week. I walk between 3-5 miles a day depending on my body. I listen to it's moodiness and aches and pains. I love to walk though that is for sure! So does Snickers.
He rides in his pet stroller and I push him. He is spoiled on account of his hip surgery.

I can not get in the mood to clean but good for you girls who are feeling ambitious! I just want to play and have fun. I'm sick of watching TV! I never get sick of reading though!

Well, I should think about making something for dinner. My son is bringing me a care package of stuff I couldn't find at the Grocery STore on Saturday. I have been ordering on-line
and picking up curbside. My husband doesn't want me going in the Stores. He is freaked out that I will come home with more than just the food. LOL I don't think so!!! I stay away
from people!! But I am humoring him...because I want him to stay around a few more years.

I took my car off the insurance since I no longer go anywhere. That saved me about 80.00 a month. Which is a blessing! At the moment!!

Have a good evening girls!

Love, Hugs, and Joy,
Peggy

Judy - Bee-minton - I love it ...may need to trademark that!

Denise - Your DH must have far better aim than we do to use a wiggle bat. We are figuring that we can go out on the pro bad minton circuits soon as the bee is a much smaller, and changing target than a shuttle cock!

Good job Girlies on the Spring cleaning front. I've never been a Pack-Rat. Quite the opposite really.
Always was a Tidy-Mouse, even as a kid. D- love the 'Bee-Minton' game idea. Made me laugh out loud. You're right, it's a win-win situation, with the chick-ladies coming out on top! hahaha We had rain all day yesterday and today is bright and cheerful out there. I need to do some work outside. There's a dead patch of flowers out there that needs to go into the recycle bin. We leave it until late Spring to make sure the birds get all the seeds off it.
I found out today that car insurance companies are giving money back because people aren't driving much these days. So check that out.
Make it a Great day Porch-Buds!

Congrats Denise on that pantry! Mine is in need of it as well, but it's so far down the list it may be easier to outsource the task :)

Tornadoes again Saturday night making for cleanup, and the 15th time of putting my plastic rows down in the garden. At this point it looks like I am a brick farmer as that is the only thing coming up out of the dirt!

Chickens getting bigger - have discovered they love carpenter bees. I know - they are an important pollinator. They are also eating away at every structure I have, so that makes them fair game in my book. New pastime for family members - badminton rackets vs carpenter bees. There's a point system, but the real winner is the chickens! I will make more pollinators I promise.

Trying to work today, but the air is 70 plus degrees, the sun is out, and Mom is out mowing again. I'd clearly rather be outside.

My best to you all today - virtual hugs all around - Have a great one!

Cleaning day today. We had rain but it looks like the sun is desperately trying to come out from the clouds. Don't think it is going to get very far though.

I have been straightening up the kids games and found a new home for them.

Decluttering a lot in my pantry. I don't know why I keep all this stuff when I don't even use it. So I have three boxes full to take out of here. I want it to go soon. I may take it to the garage just to get it out of the house. That will make me do even more cleaning and sorting and getting rid of stuff. When everything is spacious and clean I have more energy and I NEED more energy these days!

Well, I don't know what happened but I finally found the right posts for this thread.

I have been cleaning, reading, doing lots of puzzles, watching TV and baking. As Judy says one day is pretty much like the next. We have a day of sunshine, a day of cloudiness and two days of rain a b d then it starts again. Hoping May changes that.
My lilacs are in bloom though we don't have to many blossoms this year. Maybe 15 on three different bushes. But they are so pretty and my most favorite scent. Transports me back to my childhood and time spent with one of my favorite people, though she is no longer with us I have lots of fond memories of her.
Time to let the dog out and get the day started.

So cute, Tammy.
Heather, the calf is so cute.
Some of the poultry companies are not replacing chicks in the houses when they empty them. Jay is still working full time, delivering chicken to the north east. I will be glad when things get back to normal. But what will the economy be?

Howdy ladies,
I have been outside so beautiful and so in need of sunshine. Online school is hard missing my butterflies something fierce. When this is over, there is going to be some serious hugging
My grandsons have moved back here so I am excited to see them more often. The younger one jumped in my zoom meeting with my class. Hilarious he was the hit of the afternoon. He informed them I am his grandma and he doesn't share. Lol just cracked me up.
Well That is life in my neck of the woods.

Heather-

Thanks for sharing the pics - they are BOTH lovely! :)
Peggy- Yes - I'm grateful that I live in a state that does not restrict my freedoms in such a way. The rain gardener certification is actually sponsored by the state. We want you to recycle water, farm trees (and replace them)... And you're right... Not being able to sub-divide? Why that's just keeping potential tax payers from moving in! Thank you for making me grateful for new things today.

And thank you re the post viewings. I was just musing to myself how wasteful that was!

Heather...yum, thanks for the Pretzels. ~ I'm so glad to hear that you haven't had to dump your milk. It really saddens me that farmers would rather dump
than deliver to the needy. We have so many people in need of food every day of the year...but even more so during this time of the Pandemic. ~ Well, I
couldn't really tell how long-legged your new baby was as she looked all curled up and comfy. Loved her coloring though!! ~ I haven't been into a store since
March either but we have been putting in our orders online and then doing curbside pick-ups. It is amazing what you can't get at the stores. Paper products
of any kind, no Soda (pop), no Clorox wipes or hand sanitizer. And everything has gone up a couple of bucks and somethings even more than that. My son
was smart and started getting supplies through some of his work Vendors. Like you can get, snacks, and paper products through them. I wanted some boxes
of kleenex and he was able to get those for me. He bought toilet paper through them and was able to put extra product in his Office...so, if any family or
co-workers ran out...they could purchase through his store.

D. ~ it was so interesting to learn a little more about you and your hubby. You will have to check-it-out but some States will not allow you to collect rain-water.
I believe WA, OR, and Calif. it is against the law and you can be fined for it and they come out and destroy your rain collection containers. They consider it a
Natural Resource owned by the State, not the personal public. It is just crazy!!! If you ask me it belongs to God and He would want his people to use it!! In our
States up North here...you can not cut down trees on your own property either without proving they are rotted and ready to fall on personal property or possibly
hurt someone. This is mostly in the Counties not far from the City. On Your own Acerage, you can cut and sell your trees but they have strict rules for that too.
You cannot divide up your own land and sell it off in smaller lots/or acreage either. It is just crazy!!

Well, it is pouring rain out here today. When I took my dog out...he didn't want to be out there but a second...which works for me because I felt the same way.
I only slept 5 1/2 hours last night because my body was in Fibro Flare due to the rain. Not only do my muscles hurt all over but my nerve-endings feel like some-
one gathered them in bundles and set them on fire. So, I am not a fan of rain. They keep saying we are 8 inches under what we should be this time of year.
And I'm saying we had a great snow-pack this year on the Mountains, which will make up the difference!

Nora-Congratulations on your New Great Grandson!! I hope they live close enough that you get to see him...soon! We have one great-grandson and he is 6 yrs old.
He is actually my step great-grandson also. We never get to see him except in pictures as they live in Ohio. He is a Cutie though. Mama will have to beat the girls
off with a stick once he gets a little older. LOL

Well, girls...just so you know, I contacted Brian Ogle in the MJF Office and asked him to change our posts back to where we see the last page first and the older pages
last. He contacted me today and they are working on it for us. So much easier when we don't have to spend all our time going back through older posts to get get to
the newer one. So, hopefully later today it will be corrected or tomorrow.

Have a Wonderful Day doing something for someone else and then for yourself.

Love, Hugs, and Joy,
Peggy

Here's the cute long-legged girl. Can you believe how long her legs are? LOL!!! She was sleeping - the only time she holds still long enough to get a picture - and I didn't have the heart to make her get up.

We have another one due in a couple days.

Peggy - luckily we have not had to dump milk. I know that a co-op that has farms close to us has had to. It really is sad the way there's all this food and yet there's so many hungry people. The "supply and demand" thing isn't true either. You said food prices are going up (not sure what they're doing here because I haven't been into the stores since March) but the price we're getting for our milk is now almost half of what it was in Feb. Things are very screwed up!

D - welcome to the porch and best of luck with your new place. I can't wait to hear about how it's all working for you.

Well, I need to go see if my butter is ready yet. Here's some soft pretzels I made yesterday - super yummy!!!!

Lenora- I don't have cows (yet) but that sounds like good, productive work! Congrats!
Peggy - Interesting perspective. I have seen large parts of the globe, it's cultures and people. While I do have a fondness for certain peoples and places from my travels - what it's taught me is to appreciate being home more. Maybe it's too many years of being away on the road - who knows! :) "Retirement' as it were was leaving the corporate world and getting a job at home Depot or Tractor Supply and working the farm for as long as we can. We are both 54 this year - and were hoping to get out by 55 with 10 years to have our savings grow while living simpler lives together. Like everyone I suspect, our accounts took a beating - so that plan is getting re-evaluated daily! Very cool re your Grandfather!!! I feel that when we stop learning, we stop growing, so I'm always learning how to do something (like gutting my Mom's bathroom to make it more senior friendly - I'm SLOW but have all kinds of skills now - lol!) The rain garden certification allows for installation of rain gardens (helps manage runoff and erosion from houses, buildings, parking lots, etc) - But for me - the more important thing is learning how to engineer rain catchment systems. I'd like to capture rainfall and transport it to crops and critters as needed. Saves putting in a second well, and is super eco friendly! Let me get through the next month and I will happily give you all a seminar on it :)

Hello My Porchies...

Judy...I hear you about needing people!!! Me too!!! Can't wait until I can be back with my normal weekends with My youngest Son and Family.
Those two Sweethearts of mine (Shane & Sadie) and the other Grandma and my two little love bugs, Elijah and Savannah. Facetime is really
okay but there is nothing like hugs and loves and face-to-face visiting. It is 12:30 in the afternoon and I already feel tired. I know it is boredom
and that makes me want to go eat everything in sight . Good thing we are low on groceries. That will be my saving grace today. I never get sick of
reading or walking or talking! LOL. I just read a really good book called A SPRINGTIME TO REMEMBER BY Luch Coleman. Now I'm onto a
Debbie Macomber's book called IF NOT FOR YOU. These are both Romance Books with No Mystery. I tend to be a Mystery Reader more than
anything. Glad that my threat of the Posse got you on for a minute Judy. We miss your humor when you are MIA!

Nora...I love reading in the sunshine too!! Nothing nicer!! Usually, by now I have my Porch all set up for Summer but as soon as we can quit distancing
they are going to be working on our Apartments on the outside. New Paint Job and so we have to take everything off the Porch and out of our Storage
Unit. It is going to be a big mess and a lot of work on our parts too. The COVID has delayed all of that which has been a blessing in disguise.

Patsy...glad to have you back on the Porch too. You have been much more consistent than your Sissie lately. I can almost feel Judy's restlessness it is
that palpable. Somehow, I am staying stress-free and not too restless. I think my walks help a lot in that area and The Good Lord.

D~ loved reading more about you!. It is very interesting to find out that you are a very Global Business Woman. I wish I could have visited more of the World
than I have. It enlarges ones World or Global Perspective. How far away are you from Retirement Age are you and hubby? ~ Congratulations on getting
your Master Gardners Certificate. I have never heard or a Rain Gardeners Certificate. Have fun with that. My Grandfather on my Dad's side was a
Master Gardener in California...on a Hacienda. When my parents passed away, I found all of Grandpa's Certifications. I was very proud of him! I never got
to meet him as both my Grandpa's died young...in their early 60's.

Well, my dog is staring at me...so I better go take him out. Have a Lovely Day Ladies...find something to do that encourages others and lifts your own spirits.

Love, Hugs, and Joy,
Peggy
