If you have not,, you just must...
Access your local library...
I went on line and ordered some books to keep me out of the Bars! lol! just kidding...
I got an email yesterday to pick them up.. Our Library has 2 pick-up spots, you pull in, call the phone number on the sign , open your trunk,, and a few minutes later a staff person puts the books in your car, closes the trunk and waves Bye-bye..
When I got home I sprayed down the books with Lysol, let sit for a bit and then brought the books into my house...
Now let the fun begin...
Ours even have 'mobile hot spots' to check out for 3 weeks... how awesome is that....

Even in a Pandemic,, our Libraries go the extra mile to be user friendly.

Judith,, yep,, re-reading is like re-watching a movie,, you see/read things you mist the 1st time...

Denise,, I like the 'Sew With Me' craft book,, and am thinking I might hunt it down on Amazon to purchase...
It has a ton of fun crafts for my grand kiddos.

My library was going to open tomorrow but purple tier means it isn't going to happen. I get the free book each month from Amazon Prime plus I have three tall book shelves full of books and I'm old enough to have forgotten most of the them so they are fun to read again. Revisiting old friends.

I got a message from my library and they are closing because of Covid, not surprising. But the bright spot is I have access to online books. Anyone can download the Kindle app and then check out books and read them on their computers. Just a thought.

Jean,, yeppers,,, finished it up a couple of days ago..
I liked the incorporation of the recipes and the 'history' of some of the ingredience..
I am not a big fan of the "F" word used in the book, but that aside,, yes,, it was about friendship, over coming obstacles and forgiveness...
I got the book in the 'large' print version which made it nice to read for longer period.

True, Lisa . . . But, it's about life which isn't always peaches and cream -- take for instance, 2020 . . . and the bottom line is we DO survive and come through the trials stronger and wiser.

Jean, I listened to it in my car. I loved all of the cookie recipes, but parts were so depressing.
I know it is about sisterhood, and that was nice to hear.

BTW Grace . . . . did you read "Christmas Cookie Club"? Thoughts?

I was volunteering at our local library until Covid hit. I miss helping out and being among other booklovers like myself. Unfortunately, our library is only allowing a few people in at a time and no volunteering. The way things are going over here in Rhode Island, who knows what's going to happen next? It's getting bad here again. Ugh!

My library has ebooks for lend and I check out books regularly and they have added audible books, Wahoo! I can listen while I sew which I love. But you ladies need to be careful when suggesting books to read because I tend to want to read them also. LoL Kathy

Deb, check out Thrift Books https://www.thriftbooks.com - for the books you want to add to your library. They have new and used books at good prices. Orders $10 or more ships free.

Great idea! I have not gone to the library since we moved to Tennessee. Since we are unincorporated it will be a $60 fee per year. But the list of books on my buy list on Amazon exceed $60 so getting a library card is a better decision.

Looks like a fun array of reading as the colder and wet weather sets in up your way! Our local library is a wonderful resource and I admit that with cheap books at thrift stores and Friends of the Library sale, I just get my reading materials from them. One good feature of owning a book is that you can share them with friends , swap with friends, or do as Barbara does and start your own home library of favorites. However a person likes to get books, I have grown to love reading more and more since retirement with more free time. I have been down so many rabbit holes of new interests only to find a new lead and head off in another direction!!

I used to frequent our library every two weeks and often have over due fees---LOL> But we have barely used ours in several years. I have enough books to read until I am 90---and always getting more at book sales. I am a nasty book hoarder for sure. I feel like a library. Great finds and happy reading. Happy days to you.

Grace, our library is starting to do that as well. Sadly I don’t have a library card for up here because we are in a new county and have been under corona almost the whole time since we moved. My boys school is suppose to be doing a field trip there this month so I will get one then.

Oh, Grace, what a nice selection. Can't say enough about "Christmas Cookie Club" except to tell you it may not be exactly what you think. You will laugh, you will cry, you will get angry, you will appreciate even more than you already do, the healing power of friendship. I try to re-read this book every year just about this time to remind myself how lucky I am to have survived many of the experiences written about in this book and how fortunate I was when I had friends to help me along the way. I'll be anxious to hear your thoughts after you read it.
