This afternoon my mother-in-law fell. Luckily she was upstairs in our living room. Unfortunately she has a broken hip.
She is 93.

****
The nurse at her nursing home informed us that due to several things Dee is in decline my husband and his older sister decided to allow her to pass away in peace. She will be cared for and we've notified family. We don't know how much time she has left.
************************
December 2nd
My mother-in-law is still hanging on. She can walk short distances but the daily care she will need is more than my husband and I can provide and would be expensive. My husband's older sister told her that she would stay in the nursing home but could take day outings and have 2 weeks vacation.
I know my husband is relieved that she will be monitored for her chronic leukemia and heart problems. We are fortunate that she's nearby and we'll see her often. God is good.
**************

My mother-in-law will be staying in the nursing home. We cannot care for her ourselves and a caregiver would be expensive. She is well cared for there but sometimes she gets funny ideas like she's being abused in the basement or arrested for attacking a nurse. It's hardest for my husband because she leaves pitiful messages on his phone. We never know if she will be lively or apathetic.
My a d Churunga's mom also fell and broke her hip. She is now in a nursing home and is in therapy.
It's cold and snowy today. The dogs have cabin fever. Thank goodness for crafts and quilting

Thank you. The nursing home offered to provide hospice care, but when we visited Hospice of Hope in Maysville, I knew weave the right choice. Her room is large, sunlight comes through the windows, it is quiet and smells clean.

Over the past months my mother-in-law has had ups and downs, due to congestive heart failure, leukemia, and kidney failure. They called us at 4:30 this morning to choose whether to keep her comfortable or send her to the ER, where she is now.
She has not regained consciousness and will be placed in the local hospice.
Pray for my husband, he may look tough and grouchy but is the youngest child and has been with her the longest.

Vanessa, you sure have been hit hard from Covid with those you love and work with. Hopefully, you will stay well and everyone else will get well soon. Also glad that Dee is doing better where she is living right now. These things take time to even out and I know you and your family are glad to have her stable and making positive steps forward in her health.

You know those commercials for medications that add "may cause diarrhea, constipation, hangnails, heart attack, stroke or death"? That was the talk we had with the nurse- she was giving us the worst case scenario. Dee is doing fine, walking a bit more, eating well, at peace with her roommate. She had a blood transfusion and has color in her cheeks.
My husband, son, and I have set up a daily schedule to visit her.
In the meantime, last week my coworker was on vacation then she got COVID, so this is the second week I've worked on the newspaper by myself. My boss and I can't wait until she gets better.
