This morning I ironed four of my favorite aprons and thought on how each one came into my life. Two are vintage aprons I found at estate sales with my sister. We made good memories that day. As I ironed those vintage aprons I couldn't help but think about the women who made, worn, and ironed them. Don't you just know though their lives may have been simpler it was probably harder. I like to think that they would be pleased that their aprons are being loved and used and they themselves had done.

The other two aprons I ironed are my canning aprons that Linda "Quiltee" made for me. They bring back memories of the times Linda and her husband Ed have visited with me. Precious memories of a treasured friendship. The aprons hang on the door between my kitchen and laundry room and when I take one of the aprons down and put it on Annie heads for the backdoor. She knows I'm going to my Yellow Rose Cottage and she's going with me. She may not know I'm going to can but that doesn't matter to her because she just wants to go with me.

My vintage aprons and new canning aprons are now ironed and hanging awaiting the times they will be lovingly worn and new memories made.

Barbara, I'm with you when it comes to looking forward to the cool quiet time of winter. Happy sewing your new aprons.

Laurie, you have quite a collection of aprons but as all FarmGirls know you can't have too many aprons.

I have about 30 aprons and I love all of them. When I wear one it brings back memories from farmgirl swaps or ones that I have sewed. When they are dirty they are washed and ironed and waiting for whatever I plan on doing. They do keep your clothes clean.

Ladies---all my aprons are so dirty and worn from gardening and canning and staining my deck that I am a disgrace to look at---I am lucky if they are even clean. As a girl I always liked to do mens work and it has become my downfall---LOL! No time for much woman stuff---and I do love time in my house. This winter I am sewing new aprons for sure! Thanks for the inspiration!

Michelle, I've been known to pull an apron out of the dryer and put it on.

April, I love how you put it - our roots - yes, I like that.

Grace, I just know your canned tomatoes are beautiful. Tomatoes are one of my favorite things to see in a mason jar. Thanks for sharing that you too think on the women before us that wore the aprons.

Sara, I have several aprons hanging on a hook between the kitchen and laundry room,,, just like you.
And one is an apron from quiltee-linda.

Today I wore my full apron while canning.. it's amazing how messy tomatoes can be. Lol!

I agree, it's so relaxing to iron vintage aprons... To think about the women who wore them before us.

Thank for sharing yours with us.

I have always worn an apron, to protect my clothes.....haha I can make a mess. I usually don't get around to ironing them though. Cudo's to all the do iron them. They look much nicer ironed, so maybe one day I will. Regardless, wrinkled or flat I love wearing my aprons.

Winnie, I hadn't thought about it before, but it was after I found MJF that I started wearing aprons again though I had collected them for years. Yes, wearing aprons does put me into a FarmGirl frame of mind.

Sara, I always iron my aprons too after a washing. Like you, I enjoy thinking about who gifted them to me during the swaps over the years. Wearing an apron was one of my first changes I made when I read my first MJF magazine. Just adding that habit changed my frame of mind and made me feel like a farmgirl despite living in the city. Plus, I realized how apron wearing was protecting my clothes from splashes and spots I made while cooking. This one new habit has spared my clothing big time!

Thank you so much, Sara. So happy you enjoy the aprons that I love making.

Ed and I like visiting you when we are in the area - usually on our way back from a trip to who knows where. See you again, soon.
