I am hoping you will join in on this swap to make your swap partner something using an old pair of denim jeans. You can find jeans/denim in thrift shops and garage sales, if you don't have some on hand.

You will only swap with one partner.

There are many items on Pinterest using denim jeans: aprons, purses, pumpkins (I love this idea!), Christmas ornaments, Christmas stockings, wall pocket organizers, and more. If you are like me, we don't need any more tote or shopping bags, but the purses, computer bags, and cell phone cases can be handy.

Here is a link to some of the denim item possibilities. I am sure you can find more.
https://www.pinterest.com/search/my_pins/?q=recycled%20denim&rs=typed&term_meta[]=recycled%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=denim%7Ctyped

I have made numerous aprons (both half aprons and butcher aprons),
purses and I even made a skirt with jeans top and fabric bottom. I find recycling denim enjoyable. For a partner a skirt would be difficult because we are all different sizes, but there are lots of other possibilities.

If you have made things out of jeans, please let us know what you make. It's fun to find out how others recycle denim.

Signups until August 15, partners posted August 16.
Sendout by August 31, just in time for fall.

I hope you will join us!

Signups: Please contact your partner for address. If you don't get a response please let me know and I will try to contact them. I can't wait to see these projects.

Jill, I watched the video! The funniest thing was that she ironed the seams with the flat iron for her hair!
Have you ever watched Farmhouse on Boone...??? It is a young mother of lots of kids...her hubby, their garden, the old farmhouse they live in, fix up, etc. I remember watching her make a dress for herself...she laid her fabric on the clean hardwood floor to cut it out. She even pressed the seams on the floor...but she did use a real iron.
So I had to take a step back, from my homemaking teacher's--RIGHT WAY to do things, laugh a bit and go on.

I'm so glad you like the hat! It took two tries, it's still a little big! I found this funny tutorial and followed it to make the hat. The "artist" is super funny, enjoy!

Well, I finally made it home from running my errands in town and stopping by our wee po this morning ( gave them a piece of my mind too Deborah for false info) and couldn't wait to open my package from Debbie! Isnt there a saying that we save the best for last? Wow....I'm am so thrilled with my "catch all" Debbie! I adore it and will use it for a LONG time to come! Its the coolest! Quilted side, denim other side, inside/ outside pockets for goodies, of which she sent plenty!! I ADORE the bee 10" squares!! ( love love the bees) and a generous amount of fall 5 " squares! Then the pockets were stuffed with b& b hand gel, almonds, inside pinned was a small sewing kit, stencil paint brushed, calendar type to- do lists, a pocket tea kit with various teas and ribbon and a thumb pin cushion!! The sewing kit is wrapped in a denim belt loop, ingenious!

Debbie, I can't even begin to thank you enough for an amazing swap! You did GREAT at sewing, lol! I thought I was the only ' beginner here. Blessings for everything! I love it!! :)

Here's a link to a bag pattern I found.

There are some typos in this tutorial. I like this bag. It is very sturdy.

Only one more that needs to arrive to her partner and I will open up the second Recylled Denim Swap. WOO HOO!

Those are so pretty Marie and Judith! I haven’t done embroidery since I was a teenager, I have found several projects that I would like to make, but will have to brush up on those stitches.

Jean you are so welcome! I enjoyed making them, and am presently working on making myself one as well.
I’m sure you will have a better experience since you are an experienced seamstress. I am just learning, but
they are addictive. I just found a teal colored pair of jeans at the thrift store and can’t wait to create something with those.

Wanda Sue . . . I'm still blown away by the beauty of my feather wall hanging. I actually have it hanging in a window place of honor in my studio catching some nice sun rays. And thank you too for posting the link information. I actually went right to www.instructables.com to get the instructions. Excellent directions which I downloaded and am anxious to try . . . I love all crafts that are fabric related and these feathers are simply stunning. . . can't rave enough about them. Thank you, thank you again.
